Its obvious now that under pressure this is going to be the 1st thing that goes awry for him.
The good news is that if he uses this as a learning experience he will be much better prepared down the road.

Fuck you, Mandel. I used to respect that little twat because he didn't get caught up in hype and seemed to know the game. Not anymore.

Lets see, in the last two weeks he has:

1. Picked us to lose 31-14 to USC.
2. All but come out and said Barkley is on Joe Montana's level after a game against San Jose State.
3. Thrown Tressel under the bus for a true soph with a brand new supporting cast around him struggling against a D that is one of the best in the country.
4. Hyped Forcier out the ying-yang for shredding a D that hasn't been decent since '02.
5. Hopped on the PSU bandwagon for beating up on Akron and ignored their offensive struggles against Syracuse.
6. Trashed us for displaying our 1970 NC banner(see below)

Ohio State: Reinventing history

From my perch high in the press box at Ohio State on Saturday night, I was looking around the interior of the always-wondrous Horseshoe when I noticed something peculiar. On the fa?ade beneath the upper deck of the north end zone, the school lists seven national championship seasons. One of them is 1970.
Some quick research reveals that in 1970, the Buckeyes finished second behind Texas in the coaches poll ... and fifth in the AP poll (which crowned Nebraska). According to the treasure trove that is College Football Data Warehouse, the title that Ohio State so proudly displays was bestowed by the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame -- and even that one was shared with Texas.
Hey, as long as you're at it, Buckeyes, why not tack on 1969? No love for Matthews Grid Ratings? And what about that '73 banner from Foundation for the Analysis of Competitions and Tournaments? There's still plenty of room on that wall.

What's keeping Pryor from greatness?

Columbus- With confidence and a deft touch, Terrelle Pryor lofted a 34-yard completion just over the outreached hand of USC linebacker Malcolm Smith and right to re ceiver De Vier Posey with 1:18 to play in the first half against USC on Saturday night.
Right there, when he was 4-of-6 for 120 passing yards, with one touchdown drive partially wiping away a terrible interception, and with another touchdown seemingly at hand, Pryor was on the brink of true stardom on a national level.
And then he started going backward.
Not counting three last desperate heaves in an erratic and uncomfortable one-minute drill after USC went ahead for good, 18-15, Pryor was 7-of-19 for 57 yards the rest of the game. While I thought Pryor could be great and Ohio State might not win anyway, Pryor was mediocre (11-of-25 passing for 177 yards with an interception and no touchdowns, and 10 rushes for 36 yards) and the Buckeyes still almost won.
Obviously, Pryor, two games into his sophomore season, will continue to improve. But both Pryor and Ohio State coach Jim Tressel haven't developed a feeling for the way to bring out Pryor's best. Or the best isn't great . . . yet.

one thing i did notice on close up shots of pryor during the game. his eyes were extremely red (both of them). i can't recall anytime where it looked like he got poked in the eye(s). whats the chances he slept at all the night before the game?

I didn't notice that, but the mention was made previously that before the game, Guiton appeared to give TP some rah rah words of encouragement and slapped him on the helmet, and TP's body language suggested he was quite PO'ed by that.

When TP does not have the weight of the world on his shoulders and is just out there having fun he can take a game over. When the spotlight is brightest and focused soley on him he abandons his athleticism and tries too hard to show his passing ability, too often forcing throws or making mistakes that lead to three-and-outs.

If the O-Line can maintain the play they demonstrated against USC, and with this receiving corp, the offense will be unstoppable once that light goes on for TP. It's all in his head right now.

I think hell progress as the season goes by. looks like he's forcing his throwing to much and he is getting away from what made him a great player last year by making plays with his feet. Once he settles down hell be fine. i still think hes a year away..

The way the team played in general, and TP's play at QB in particular reminds me a lot of Troy Smith and the 2005 Ohio State team up to this point.

Give Pryor and this team time, give them a couple more games and I think they are going to be rolling by the end of the year and are going to smash their bowl opponent and will be primed to roll into 2010, just like Smith and the Buckeyes did at the end of '05 going into '06.

Pryor and the Buckeyes aren't going to play against a team that good or nearly that fast for the rest of the year (including Penn State and in the bowl game).

Despite the loss, this team has to have gained some confidence. Like I said, I think this year is going to end up being eerily similar to 2005 (minus the Penn State loss, our D-Line is going to terrorize them).

He seems to be making the same improvements like Troy Smith, he went from a run and gun qb to a pocket passer with a option to make a big run. Its just that TP still needs to learn to read defenses and make better passing decsions then he will be performing at his full potential.

The O-line hasn't exactly been great for hm over the last year. Confidence that the o-line will give him a couple seconds to read the D and pass will hopefully help him keep his footwork and mechanics in order.

He needs to master the fundamentals of the position and drastically improve his footwork. Too many of his passes either sail over the heads of his receivers or he throws them into the ground. I know that he wants to learn the Pro-offense to prepare him for the NFL but I think he's suited more for the spread. He'd be a stud at TE for years in the NFL if he concentrated on being one.

13-25, 139 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT - 5 sacks for 34 yards - 14 rushes for 49 yards (sacks removed from rushing stats)

Terrelle Pryor - true sophomore - 2009 vs. USC:
11-25, 177 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT - 1 sack for 4 yards - 9 rushes for 40 yards (sacks removed from rushing stats)

Just saying.....

Ohio State Foottball

Interview after the game...this young man is obviously very hard on himself. Here's hoping that he regains some confidence and goes crazy against Toledo. He looked very disappointed a few times during the game when he walked off the field. Head up young man...you have more potential than just about any other QB in the country. There will be better days ahead.
