WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Sorry but I do not want Pryor to be anything like Juice Williams. Pryor is leaps and bounds better than Juice Williams was a freshmen. Juice Williams has gotten worse because he is trying to be pure passer rather than play his game. People keep forgetting Pryor was a true freshmen. Now if he doesn't seem to improve going into next season then we may have a problem but IMO he will get much better.

I think people just want him to have a strong arm and start putting a lot of zip on the ball.

Does anyone have a link to the post game interviews where Pryor says that he was injured? A lot of people are claiming that this was an excuse and no such thing was ever said.
Circling Back On Pryor | Buckeyes | The best Browns, Cavs, Indians, and Buckeyes coverage on the web!

I just came across that via EDSBS, and I'm one of the people he's talking about in that article. I had no idea until now about the shoulder. I noticed the weird shoulder pad thing before the game ever started, I just never figured he was injured. I heard a couple people say something about him being injured, but I chalked that up to the typical fan who can't handle a loss.

It makes me feel quite a bit different about the kid. Not that I was down on him before....but it gives a new perception on a) why he was running out of bounds for no reason and more importantly b) what kind of QB we have on our hands.........a damn good one.

just my thoughts

a lot of bashing on his passing. Someone please name a QB that can throw that accurate when he's running full speed and while, he's escaping all that pressure/ sacks by the defense. Some of his passes were great when he had time but, how many times did he have that .The O-LINE cost Boeckman his job and caused Pryor some negatives. I hope the young ones give him some time next year then,,,,,,,,,,,,.

Exactly. Pryor has done a better job as a FR than Smith as a SO, so I don't know what the problem is.

If you watched the Michigan game ( I would say the Texas game, but TP was hurt and it would not be fair to compare that game) and compared the way the receivers were catching the balls of both TP and TB you will notice how they were catching the ball in stride when TB way passing it.

If I was going to talk about our quaterback, I would like to say "most" of his passes were great, not just "some". Our receivers made some "great" catches to save some bad throws. A fair number of TP's completions were underthrown. Some were jump balls deep down field.

I don't want to sound like I am bashing TP. Right now in his stage of development he is a great playmaker. I would not call a great passer yet. Will he become one? I think he will. He is not there yet. I realize he is just a freshman, but this is Ohio State football. We have to compare him with all the other quarterbacks who have put on the Scarlet and Gray. Weather they are Freshmen or Seniors. Weather they are Troy Smith, Craig Krenzel, Greg Fry or Steve Bellisari. I do not want to look at his passing through Scarlet colored glasses.

Sorry, I think I am rambling a bit.

I don't even know why some people would be dissapointed with TP. Most number 1 or 2,3 recruits in the nation end up as complete FLOPS or just average players. The fact that TP started and led some games to victories is pretty impressive and the fact that he DID NOT dissapoint (even though he may not have lived up completely to all the hype) is a good thing.
I think he will improve greatly as a passer, considering i still have faith in the general coaching staff. TP's improvment greatly depends on the coaching staff as with it does with all players; but especially young players.

I think the main problem is that the season overall was a disappointment to many fans because of the way the team played against USC after returning 20 starters and expectations being NC and nothing else.

After Pryor started he played very well and showed great promise, but many were upset with the staff because they wouldn't let him sling it around. PEople then started to question the staff and Pryor after the PSU game and some started to call for Todd to come back.

This didn't help, but also, for some reason, people became upset that a 18 or 19 year old wasn't able to progress in the passing game as quickly they wanted him to.

IMO, Pryor outstripped the hype. Not one person expected him to come in to OSU, win a starting job, and then produce some good stats and an 8-1 record. Yes he had a lot of help from the defense and WRs and Wells (as does any QB), but he was not recruited as a pass first QB, but as a guy to come in and be a spark for the team and make some big plays, not to run the offense and be a team leader at 18.

I'll say this time and time again, not Tebow, Young, Bradford, McCoy, Leinart, or Smith had to come in to their program with little practice and do what PRyor has done, and in some cases done very well.

I'm not saying that he will be better than all, or some of those guys, but those questioning his passing ability and QB play really need to put what he did in perspective as rather not something that was expected of him, but rather something that was thrust upon him and in many aspects he passed with flying colors.

He has a long way to go to be a great player and QB, but all players do at some point in their careers and he is still extremely young.

Troy was a redshirt SO as that too. I think a more atheltic Oline with a meaner interior is going to give Pryor more time to examine the field. Boren is a huge upgrade over person IMO, plus with Brewster and Cordle thats a better interior than.... Rehring-Cordle-Person

Wow now that you looks at the starting interior going into the season I see one huge problem. MOBILITY.

good point but, I'm not sure if you ever heard the wr's saying they were use to TB throwing to them not Pryor. That causes a huge problem .
This season the wr's had the most drops by far that I can remember and I have no answer to that .

The ones when he had time were great but, like I posted ,how many times did he actually have the time. I would love to see him have time all day just like any fan. He would be deadly then, against a defense. Look up how many times he got yards when it looked like he was going down. I kept thinking if he had the option to pick when, to RUN or PASS then we would be watching a VICK/ young combo. Just think if he had that this year with Beanie as another option. Just my crazy dreaming but,,,what the heck:biggrin:
I hate bashing the line but, Tressel said it a few years ago. The lines win the games and we found that out the hard ways:(
