WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

brutus2002 said:
Well Ted Ginn just SET the NCAA record with 4 punt returns for TD's IN A SEASON. He is the best returner in the country and is one hell of a WR.
We now have 3 viable threats at wr Ginn, Holms, and Gonzo.
This team has scary potential. We have seen the future and it's bright.
Don't forget about Troy Smith being a threat with his arm and feet. Add a year of maturity for Pittman next year and Ohio State has one heck of a team. Who knows who will step up next year too.

Although there is alot of offense to mention, look at what we have coming back on defense....

3 absolute monsters at linebacker, a line with talent and now experience, and a very quick and talented secondary.

Our defense will be as good as the 2002 squad, our kicking game will not be as good, but we won't need it if this offense continues to grow.

This team grew up today in a huge game, and will have another big bowl game. I think another crystal trophy is headed to C-bus realy soon.

Sorry, but he tied the NCAA record. He set the tOSU and Big Ten record.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade. :) It would be great if he would have broken the NCAA record. :)

From the AP:

Ginn, the freshman wide-out with the sprinter's gait, gathered a punt at his own 18 midway through the third quarter with the Buckeyes up 20-14. He broke a tackle and went into overdrive for an 82-yard touchdown. His fourth return for a score this year matched the NCAA mark.

Which game did Teddy first start returning punts? Even though he tied the D1A mark, I don't know that he even gets on the list for return averages, etc because he has to be a return specialist in more than 75% of the teams' games. I think the minimum cut-off is at 1.2 returns per game.

i have to admit, i sit in absolute amasement that people actually punt to him at this point. hell, he didn't even start the year as the punt returner! it wasn't till holmes ran back his first td that they put ginn back there.

After he almost ran one punt back - I didn't think scUM would punt to him again.

Bad special teams coaching there - why not kick it out of bounds if you're scUM?

I'd love to see Ginn get one in the bowl and own the record himself as a true freshman. Heck of a way to begin a career. I know it's incredibly early, but if he does this again next year while starting at WR and doing kickoff returns we could be talking a darkhorse Heisman canidate. I'd love for Ginn to be people's idol like Charles Woodson (may the prick rot in He!!)
