Ted Ginn Jr. finally produces big play for Dolphins
By Omar Kelly
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
October 13, 2009

Miami Dolphins - For nearly five straight minutes Ted Ginn Jr. couldn't stop making fun of his fellow receivers.

First, Ginn bragged to Greg Camarillo that while his third-down catch was big considering it extended the game-winning drive, his 53-yard touchdown reception was huge, and much more artistic.

Then he pointed out that rookie receiver Brian Hartline's yellow tie and vest outfit make him look like a Cowboy.

"All you need is the hat," Ginn said.

After weeks of being the butt of the jokes, and the source of constant criticism from the Dolphins fan base, Ginn could finally let loose after producing the offense's first big play from a receiver during Monday night's 31-27 victory over the Jets.

"One big catch and he won't shut up," Camarillo said of Ginn, who also caught a 4-yard pass against the Jets.

But it wasn't just one big catch. It was the type of catch the Dolphins fan base and coaches had been waiting for all season. No, actually three seasons; ever since the Dolphins used the No. 9 pick in the 2007 draft to select the former Ohio State receiver.

Ginn shot off the line of scrimmage in the fourth quarter, using his long speed to put at least 3-yards between him and Jets Pro Bowl cornerback Derrelle Revis. He caught Chad Henne's rocket of a pass in stride, producing the big strike the offense has long sought.

"We caught them at the right time," said Ginn, who has contributed 16 receptions for 195 yards this season. "It's a big relief to go get a touchdown catch, and a win….I [had] to get it. It was a dead point on [the ball], but I knew if I stayed on my course I was going to make the catch."

Teddy could have been making plays like this for the past 3 years....its no secret, all us buckeye fans knew it, the first time Ginn plays with a QB who can throw deep (Ironically its Chad Henne) he burns everyone and makes a big play, look out NFL dbs.

Darrell Rivas is the first of many names on Ted Ginn's "Burn List"

I thought he actually made some nice strides last season. Mr. Kelly makes it seem like that was Ginn's first touchdown of his career. It was a huge play no doubt, perhaps even his biggest so far..but he had some good moments during their surge for the playoffs last season (like clutch 4th down catches) It was just too bad that he couldn't haul in one of those tds vs Indy. Because contrary to what the Dolphins jerks were saying, he was not horrible in that game.

Anyways it was good to see Ted comeback and perform in primetime. That was a fun game to watch with all the familar names. BTW I noticed that Ginn was back returning kicks. Everyone knows Ginn can be a weapon with that unit, why would they take him out in the first place? He was one of the better college football players around because of his receiving & special teams.

Starting returner went down with what looked like a knee injury.

Also Hartsock. He did a good job run blocking against Porter (among others) and was the TE who got taken out in the unnecessary roughness penalty.
I didn't see him too much after that and the running game suffered for it imo.
Somebody else mentioned Gholston but I didn't notice him once ? I was actually wondering if he's injured or something...

Great to see Teddy finally have a QB that can get him the ball -- even if it's Henne. In a way, it just makes it all the more sweeter when scum alum do better in the NFL.
