WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (All B1G, All-American)

That's too bad, but TGII always said he was a football player who ran track. Would have been nice to see him and Santonio (who was also on the roster before the indoor season started) teaming up with OSU's sprinters in the 4x100. As it stands, tOSU men's track program is like the 5th best in the state this year.

Actually the word straight from Ginn is he was nursing a sore hammy after the football season and didn't want to have it bothering him during spring football. Had he taken part in offseason track he may have carried the injury over into this season. And I think we all agree we can't have that.

He was at full speed by the time he was at the MSU 25. He caught this pass at the MSU 47 in stride, made a slight juke move, and was straightening back out by the MSU 42. From that point on he just ran directly towards to left corner of the end zone...

Maybe we should ask Mr. #31 what it's like to be postarized by Ted Ginn Jr. and Braylon Edwards in the same season. Since it was Edwards that caught all those ridiculous jump balls against MSU's very own #31 in their comeback vs. MSU. I'm sure it would be, "WTF? you can't cover those guys, I don't give a shit who you are. The only way you cover them is if they drop like 5 passes in 'The Game'".

Sophomore Ginn

Do you think we'll ever see a Ginn like the freshman Ginn? The kid that no team knew about until he was dancing in the endzone cuz of a punt return?

Now that teams know what's coming, they'll punt away and double team him and press him hard at the LOS knowing that he has breakaway speed... So will we still have Ginn plays?

Plus I heard he's bulking up a little. And even just a little can mean a lot in terms of loss in speed [flydell].

So was freshman year a flash in the pan, or is this kid going to shock us AGAIN?

Boy I love the offseason.

im hoping he doesnt slow down. i also noticed he bulked up a bit. however being a person of his background in the track scene and seeing the work that goes into the osu camp with speed i cant really see him slowing down. i just wanna see him progress even more.

Just because they know what's coming doesn't mean they can stop it. NFL teams know about Randy Moss, and only traffic enforcement officers can stop hi...wait a minute- no one can.

I think it'll be more challenging for him to get open, but when he does the end result will be the same.
On punt returns, they can kick away from him all day long when we have Holmes back their with him. They could also choose to punt the ball out of bounds every time and I'll take that field position all day.

He's bulking up, but that doesn't mean he'll lose his speed- he was only listed at 170 pounds last year (I believe) so he's got room to grow, he can probably get up to at least 200-210 before losing any speed.

im thinking the same. even if they did manage to get coverage on him....................nobody si too worried because they cant account for our other great recievers.:biggrin:

Obviously, I'm not gonna go out on much of a limb by saying that it's doubtful that he'll return 4 punts for TD's next year. However, I think you'll see alot of "Ginn" plays, including some featuring him lining up at QB and TB. Tressel knows he has a jewel and is going to use it. Ginn creates an incredible challenge for any defense, yet the opposing coaches know that with the talent on board here, keying solely on Ginn is like cutting off your dick to cure genital warts.

If they can execute those plays at the right time in the game it will be a lot of fun to watch.
Also, I get your analogy, but I don't like the visual it gave me.

Ginn is the answer

As soon as teams start punting away from Ginn (or the dual return team with Holmes), they might hit it 4 out of 5 times. But that fifth time will end up costing them the game. I imagine teams will punt away when the game is still in balance (1st half, 3rd quarter) and be alright. But I'm telling you what, with the team the Bucks will field this season, I wonder exactly how many teams will still have a chance in the fourth quarter. My guess is 3-4, and even then, when they try to outsmart themselves by punting away from Ginn, they will put the Bucks 1st and 10 right around midfield. Once they figure out that shanking punts only hurts their chances, they will finally punt to us, and the kid has enough talent to remind them why they really don't even have a shot in the first place. It's 6 to one, half a dozen to the other. In other words, if other teams are gonna punt away from Ginn all season, they better be prepared for Troy Smith (Zwick, Boeckman) to move 45 yards for the score. Am i wrong? Donnie, you're out of your element, am I wrong? Go Bucks

I don't think Ginn will get up to 200...maybe 185 or 190 before the staff says, "Whoa, enough's enough". Granted, with his in-depth track background, he'll know how big he can get before his speed tapers off (and thus won't pull a Lydell on us), but I still doubt he'll ever crack the 200 pound barrier.
