WR Taurian Washington (official thread)

During the Big Ten Networks preview show, T-Wash made a fantastic adjustment to a deep ball. He didn't make the catch (would have been an amazing catch if he had); but the ability to adjust to that ball and get to it the way he did was impressive.

if that was the pass from bauserman, then yeah it was a great play made by twash even if he didnt make the grab!

I'm one of T Wash's biggest supporters on this board and I can tell you that an opportunity was never lacking for him. This has been a matter of getting his priorities straightened out, having an attitude check, and finding his sense of urgency. All signs point to the light switch finally doing more than flickering. We heard and saw great things from Taurian during the Rose Bowl, especially about his perimeter blocking. This camp, Taurian has been a guy mentioned in a lot of camp updates as someone putting in EXTRA time doing things like catching passes after practice and putting forth his best effort every day.

Call me bold, but I'm saying T Wash has a breakout year. Probably has about 650 yards receiving. He's one of Terrelle's favorite targets and as long as he can keep the drops low (Posey has a bad case of the drops also keep in mind) he will have a fine season baring there is no drop off in his practice effort and his other obligations.

great post and I agree with everything you said. If Washington steps up at that third spot this offense is going to be VERY good.

Taurian Washington, above, is trying to hold off freshman Corey Brown for the No.3 spot.

"I think Taurian has had a solid preseason," Tressel said. "He knows what he's doing. He's done a good job coaching the young guys. He's made some solid catches."

Schwartz was having probably the best preseason of any of the receivers before a sprained foot ligament knocked him out of action last week. He plans to return for the opener Sept.2 against Marshall.

Last season, Washington was No.3 coming out of camp, but a couple of drops sent him plummeting down the chart, so much so that he was contemplating a transfer before the Rose Bowl boosted his spirits. Then in the jersey scrimmage Saturday, Washington scored the only touchdown, on a 25-yard pass from Terrelle Pryor.

By winning the scrimmage, the offense won the right to wear scarlet jerseys in practice.

"It totally boosts my confidence, but at the same time I was just glad I was able to go out there and help my team (the offense) get the red jerseys and come out with the 'W,'" Washington said.

But Tressel said Washington hasn't forgotten last year.

"Taurian has been around long enough to know that's wonderful, but if you don't do it tomorrow in practice, or the next day - you have to be good ongoing," Tressel said. "But I've been very pleased with Taurian."

As for Washington, as much as he espouses being a team player, he also wants to play.

"This is my last year, my last go-round," Washington said. "I have no other choice, so I want it extremely bad."

Good luck, TWash.

When I saw this on the BPSpy, I thought something had happened and he wasn't going to play for us. Thank goodness that's not the case.

I'm looking for a Roy Hall type senior season from Taurian. He's a very streaky player in my opinion, with a good start and the right momentum he could really help us make this a season to remember.

NEAL C. LAURON | DISPATCH

When receiver Taurian Washington slipped down the depth chart last season, he earned his way back onto the field by becoming more versatile. He was lauded for his fine blocking in the Buckeyes' Rose Bowl victory.

Similarly, off the field, Washington seems to be a well-rounded guy. As we discovered in a recent conversation, he enjoys baseball, bowling and a certain Japanese steak house:

Q: Being a Michigan native (Orchard Lake, northwest of Detroit), did you catch a lot of grief when you chose Ohio State?

A: It wasn't bad. A couple people were like, `Aw, you traitor,' but I didn't get a lot of hassle. A lot people are leaving Michigan now, trying to get away from home.

Q: Was it easier coming here because you were rejoining your high school teammate, (fifth-year senior) Aaron Gant?

A: Yeah, we were real close growing up. He helped me coming in _ showed me the main stuff I needed to know. Plus, he had a car and I didn't, so I was going back and forth to home with him.
