Many of the OSU starters got a break from heavy hitting, in many cases to allow them to heal up from some of the bumps and bruises of fall camp and the first four games. Among that number was wide receiver Santonio Holmes who has had a sore foot since fall camp. Holmes has been held out of drills this week to let the foot heal and is wearing a boot to immobilize the foot and help it heal.
"What he could gain by practicing wasn't as much as he could gain by resting up," said Tressel.
Tressel indicated that Holmes' injury was more of the nagging type, but not one that would keep him out of action.
"He wore the boot the whole week of the Miami game and then like Superman jumped out of the phone both," said Tressel.
"He's had a little bit of tenderness in that left foot probably all through preseason. Here's a chance for him to take a little pressure of it and we're doing that."
Isnt a boot a little overkill for a tender foot? I'd want just a small air ankle brace to keep it stable... a boot?
That's not completely true. I agree that he's not been used as often as he should be, but he's caught 22 balls for 2 TD's (in 2004 he caught 55 balls for 7 TD's), which aren't terrible statistics. Plus he still has 7 games to show the nation what he can do.I can't help but shake my head at how his tremendous talents are going to waste this year
