WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

Like others, I guess I just don't understand. If he is willing to sit out a year to play... why not bide your time here?

He has seemingly handled this the right way and deserves no ill-will from what I can tell. But I can't help but think his opportunity would have come here too.

Good luck and much success to you Lamaar!

This really is not meant as a shot towards JT.....but it makes sense for him to get out and enter a system where he can be given the ball.

Terrelle continues to develop, the offense is becoming more open as Terrelle learns the offense, but if you're Lamaar and you want a shot at the next level, its time to move on.

Lamaar is a Percy Harvin EXTRA Light. He is not a pure receiver but he isn't a college or NFL RB either. He probabaly envisoned himself as the next Tedd Ginn in the Shot Ginn, but that is an awkward formation, and probably won't be seen going foward. I still think Lamaar has great skills in the right system, but tOSU isn't the likely destination. His clock is running short, and the 4th receiver on a team where the 4th receiver likely see's less than 20 balls a season is reason to get out...

Good luck Flash.....

You know the NCAA only allows four years of eligibility these days, right?
Right, but you have 5 years to use up your 4 years of eligibility. He could sit out a year and still have two playing years left with another school. Note: He didn't use up a "red shirt year" at Ohio State.

Good for Lamaar....would be a good pick up for either team, i.e., Va Tech. or UNC. I can see him being a difference maker in the ACC.
I disagree. Lamaar is too small for RB, he has had difficulty learning the WR position, and he has shown nothing special as a KR. It would be a real risk for a BCS team to go after a kid who has so little on his resume'.

Most kids who are looking for PT drop down a level or two. Lamaar should really consider schools like New Mexico or Youngstown State (he knows the head coaches at both schools), places where he would almost certainly get an opportunity to play.

Anyway, best of luck to Lamaar.

I disagree that Lamaar is a "Percy Harvin Extra light." Even during the spring game, watching him get an end around only having to make one guy miss, he just fails to do it. He has shown me nothing to suggest he could be compared to the NFL rookie of the year. I know that I am a pretty big advocator for speed, whether it's track speed or football speed, but Lamaar really just looks like a track star in pads. His lateral movements seemed as if he wasn't comfortable carrying the rock.
I've got no idea what went on behind the scenes here but it strikes me as odd. Work ethic? Distractions? Who knows. It just looks like there was little to no development while he was here.

Percy Harvin "Extra" Light in the sense that he isn't a receiver and he isn't a RB. He's a guy that needs the ball in unique ways. Motion him to the backfield, end arounds, reverses, etc. He just isn't going to cut it as a slot receiver...Youngstown St or New Mexico. Maybe he can be productive in a spread offense where more misdirection is used and he can get the ball in space.
