WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

Lamaar Thomas

Someone on the other board, who happens to be from a neighboring school district in the DC area, claims that rumors are swirling about Thomas committing to the Illini. I hope this isn't true, but it doesn't sound good for the Buckeyes. This seems to contradict what we've been hearing from our so-called insiders. This kid is a must-get in my opinion, and it sure would sting to lose him to a lesser program that is Illinois.

I would LOVE to get Thomas, but with the overall quality of this class already, and with Floyd, Scott and even Tate still possible and with Stoney and Devier in the bag... must get is a little strong IMO. Of course keeping him out of the Illini coffers is always a good thing for B10 play.

Speed Speed Speed

I view Thomas as a must-get recruit because of the speed factor. He is the burner that his class definitely needs. He's the type of recruit that would help us forget about guys like Teddy Ginn and Gonzo. I'm not sure you could say the same thing about some of the other remaining WR recruits we're in on..

I hate the term 'must get.' It makes it sounds like Ohio State will not be able to compete for Big 10 and/or national titles in the future if the Buckeyes miss out on the guy. It's simply not the case...for anyone - Pryor included IMO.

Anyway, as for Thomas...we know where OSU's 'insiders' are getting their info from on this one (mostly OSU's current commits), so if Thomas indicated to them that he's OSU bound and the 'insiders' report as such but Thomas does something different...then oh well, not much one can do there.

All signs point to tOSU.

I don't think Illinois people will meltdown over this
tOSU is the favorite.

The real meltdown danger is here if he does something unexpected.

I'll have the delete button ready around the time of the announcement, just in case...

Thanks for the post bat...

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he went to Illinois.

Zook could sell a ketchup popscicle to a chick in a wedding gown.

Still remains to be seen if he can win with that talent.
Selling a ketchup popsicle to ANYBODY would be a tall order. I just have reservations about whether Zook could teach her the X's and O's of how to eat it not without getting it all over herself :).

Funny, someone on another board two days ago with the exact same handle sure seemed pretty confident he is going to Illinois...must just be a coincidence.

Wrong.

I know for a fact (when that was posted) that he had not told anyone (outside of his family) as of that time and that Buckeye posters were claiming he told recruits he was going to tOSU. In other words, the various reports on tOSU boards were wrong.

He may very well choose tOSU and it certainly looks like he will ...

However, I guarantee you there was a lot of inaccurate information on the boards this past week ... and this was not a 'done deal' as early as everyone was stating it was. That was the gist of the post two days ago ...
