WR Michael Jenkins (All B1G, National Champion)

Michael Irvin is infinitely more obnoxious than anyone on this forum. As for his football qualifications, he was an All-Pro. Won multiple Super Bowls. Can't really argue with that. Still, though, guys like Hoge, Jaws, Tom Jackson, et al are far more qualified as analysts. They also don't have to scream every word that comes out of their mouths - a plus in my book.

That last drop was the worst of the night. Gotta be nerves or something. He'll get it turned around though, he's too good a player.

I'm not too worried about it. The last drop he should have had, but he had to be close to 30" up on that Schaub pass that was badly overthrown. He has to go for those balls or they're picks anyway. The QBs were awful for Atlanta, so none of the receivers looked good, but MJ could have and should have looked better.

Have to figure he'll pick it up. Hopefully it's not pouring down rain in his next game, and going against the Ravens D in your first preseason game can't be easy.

Want to talk about a bad game though, why is Pat Summerall still broadcasting?

Started watching the game late in the fourth quarter and my brother said Summerall was subbing for an announcer that had just had an operation. I'm surprised that CBS let him broadcast for an ABC company (ESPN).

No it's not that.

I have the utmost respect for Pat Summerall and all the great calls him and John Madden teamed up to do. I know he's just filling in for Mike Patrick but it was really tough to hear him try and keep up. It's just passed him by.

Of course I might seem lost too if I was announcing a game with a couple of jakes like Joe Theisman and Paul Maguire.

Tough crowd. I am in no way worried about what Michael Jenkins can do on the football field. Had he not got the pass interference call it would have been another interception. He would have had to been 6'10" to catch the pass that went through his hands for the pick. The last drop was very uncharacteristic. A rookie having a rough night in his first preseason game isn't that surprising. He'll be fine.

You misread my point. Never said he wouldn't be fine. Pointed to poor QB play, pouring rain, and one of the tougher D's in the league as reasons why he wasn't shining. He should have had that last ball perhaps, but I don't remember one good throw to him. I remember one wide left that he barely got a hand on, then the two where he had to air out just to have a shot at them. The INT that squirted through his hands wasn't his fault, maybe that last one he should have had, but you can't fault him really for not catching that, you just wish he had despite the fact that it was a hard high throw that he had to try and reel in during a downpour. His offensive pass interference probably saved an INT, and unlike Summerall and Cheeseman, I do give him credit for considering that when he did it.

Don't think that's harsh or negative. He could have had a better game. Did he have a bad one? I think the Falcons as a whole did. I have all the faith in the world in Jenkins, hell, I've got him pegged as a starter in the pro tracker and think he's an ideal possession guy for Vick.

So basically, I said (and am still saying) the exact same thing you are. :tongue2:
