Noise is surfacing around a potential Ohio State football X-factor that could be a major player for the Buckeyes in 2026

Former LSU WR Kyle Parker is standing out for Ohio State this summer
“Down the stretch in April, it felt like Parker was beginning to surge a bit ahead in the bid to take a first-team job alongside Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss — and the summertime buzz suggests not only was that the case then but that the workouts in June have helped solidify that,” Ward wrote. “Parker arrived with big-game experience at LSU and an existing relationship with new Ohio State wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, and both of those seem to have eased his acclimation period into the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.”

Clarity has come about regarding Ohio State transfer portal WR Kyle Parker and what’s going on with him early in fall camp.
One player who has drawn attention is former LSU wide receiver Kyle Parker, who transferred to Ohio State after three years with the Tigers.
Parker followed wide receiver coach Cortez Hankton from LSU to Ohio State, and his transition appeared to be going smoothly after a strong spring. However, he was limited during the three days of training camp. Parker took part in the individual wide receiver drills but not in the team portion of practice, according to Lettermen Row.
The good news is that Parker was still out there in pads for all three practices, so he shouldn’t be limited for long.
Kyle Parker’s limitations don’t appear serious
Being limited to start fall camp after a productive spring isn’t ideal for Parker, but the fact that he remained in pads throughout all three practices signals nothing serious is holding him back. He figures to be a depth wide receiver for the Buckeyes once fully healthy. He saw his first real college production last year at LSU, catching 31 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns.
Kyle Parker’s role in a revamped wide receiver rotation
Still, Parker should be able to carve out snaps in a Buckeyes wide receiver rotation that figures to look different under Hankton than it did with Brian Hartline coaching the position in Columbus. Hankton’s approach could lend itself to more rotation, which would benefit a depth piece like Parker once he’s fully participating in team drills.
The Buckeyes have no serious injuries to monitor at this time, and Parker’s situation appears minor … good news for an Ohio State team gearing up for a challenging 2026 season.
