Former Penn State wide receiver Fleming facing homicide charges in fatal Bradford County ATV crash

Former Penn State wide receiver and Southern Columbia High School graduate Julian Fleming is facing several felony charges following the death of his girlfriend during an ATV accident in Bradford County in May.
Fleming has been charged with felony counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle. He also faces a DUI charge and several other related charges.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 23-year-old Bloomsburg resident Alyssa Boyd was killed when an ATV being operated by Fleming struck a deer on Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township on May 23.
Fleming was taken to Guthrie Troy Hospital with serious injuries. Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
They were not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the crash.
Fleming is scheduled to appear in front of District Judge Jonathan Wilcox today (Wednesday, Oct. 8) at 11 a.m. for his preliminary hearing.

Damn. What a terrible story. Not going to throw stones. Lord knows I wasn't always sober when I drove at his age
This is terrible. My thoughts are with the family of the young lady, and Julian as well.

This sounds like horrible luck. The deer probably jumped out in front of his ATV, and he didn't have time to move out of the way. He may have been under the influence, and it may have not really played a factor in this particular crash, however, he was still intoxicated to an illegal extent.

People have to learn to stay away from alcohol and anything motorized. It is not worth it, and clearly it can end bad. Drink after!

I hope that forgiveness happens for all those involved at some point. I imagine that's a high hurdle, but I hope.
I could imagine it to be hard for Ms. Boyd's family to forgive Julian. Yet, I envision Julian having an even harder attempt at being able to forgive himself. Just hate seeing what has transpired for this young guy the last few years.
So much promise, so few desireable outcomes. Shame.
