WR Joe Ramstetter (Walk-on)

Is it possible he grows into an H-back (ala Stoneburner)?

Why would you want that? We need some size on the outside, IMO. I'd like to see him used more as a big possession WR like robiskie, especially to help out mobile QBs like what we have on our roster.

I understand the desire to get a bigger possession receiver on the outside, but at 6'3 Ramstetter is the same height as Michael Thomas and only 1 inch taller than Evan Spencer. It's not like he's a 6'6 anomaly.

At 6'3 200 just out of high school it sounds like he could have the frame to add 25-30 pounds and play at 6'3 225 or 230. If he can maintain his speed with the added weight he would be a difficult matchup in the middle of the secondary on a linebacker from the H-back position.

There is no reason that the H-back can't line up outside. Stoneburner lined up outside at times.

A difficult matchup in the middle helps a mobile QB just as much as a big presence outside. If he can maintain his speed and move inside it would be difficult for a LB to matchup with him which means safety help. Safety help means less help on the edges and less run support.

The removal of the black stripe is a great story, but it has to be tempered by the fact that he is a walk-on and there is a strong push to sign speed on the edges. The depth chart isn't going to get any less deep. Especially with Jeff Greene eligible next year. It is going to be difficult for him to break the depth chart on the edge. But as a specialized role like an H-back he could find a spot.

I don't know the kid so I don't know if he has the frame to add weight, but if he does, it would seem like a logical plan to at least consider.
