WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Frosh/WR of Year, All-American)

I just can’t believe day and chip thought hey let’s not get this man targets…that’s insanity..especially when in the first half, when you actually gave him opportunities he delivered every time..inexcusable
If Smith is itching to leave, it probably has nothing to do with the Game. Smith is not a Ohioan. Everything the kid does is about business.

The issue every program has now is Scum in all their wisdom really really felt like they needed Underwood so badly, that they reset the NIL market. Much in the same way that the Yankees and Dodgers do to MLB.

Arguably Smith is most likely worth more than what he is currently being paid.

My take on Smith's post. He is a proud Buckeye, and maybe wants more money. In case he doesn't get it, this post definitely will have schools calling his agent.

OSU will pay him more, no doubt.

The only wildcard is whether Day or Hartline is still at OSU next year.

If Smith was tripled we should have had others wide open.
And that's the best point. Any of Egbuka, Tate, Innis...to some extent Thurman or Kacmarek. A seriously mismanaged offensive game plan and utter failure to adapt. I am sure Smith would be fine with targeting the others and winning the game, aside from the team result it would have forced ttun to stop committing so much coverage to Smith and would likely have freed him up. This is first day at school, intro to coaching an offense stuff. Hell, we had been doing that leading up to the game with Egbuka, Tate and Innis...why divert from that?

On concerns of Smith leaving, my only dormant thought is that if Day and/or other coaches get canned, he might want to leave. He will need a good NIL deal and he has earned it, but not having the head coach you committed to also matters...Exhibit A, see Caleb Downs. I think its not really a concern here, but I think that's where fans minds are at right now.

Egbuka and Tate start making 30-40 yard plays, and you force Wink to drop the triple team on JJ. WE. NEVER. FUCKING. TRIED!

That is the exact issue. We did that effectively against PSU and IU, who both have better defenses than ttun. Don't reinvent the wheel when you have the talent to just do the same thing and not prove a point. JJ Smith is a literal cheat code and if the defense really goes that hard to defend him, use the unlimited other weapons until you get the coverage off him. I don't think the staff can even explain this one...and its not hindsight, it is foresight.

It wasn't about winning the game. It was about winning the game by proving that he was tough and could beat them by going straight at their strength.

I don’t know where the triple team comments come from. In the second half, they were playing 2 deep safeties on most plays.
Ideally, we should have run them out of that defense, but we all know that wasn’t effective because our OL was dominated.
Hard to get large gains on two deep. Need to patiently move the ball down the field. We just wasted too many plays on short runs and didn’t adapt to this failure.
