I just watched a 8 min. highlight video on youtube of Evan...man, I had no idea he was as fast as he is. This kid is going to be big time.

I thought he looked very fast on film also, especially after seeing his forty in the 4.7s or so. Kid looked fast enough to outrun angles and reminded me a little of a mixture between Robo and Holmes, as weird as that sounds.

Spencer is an utstanding looking prospect. He comes from good bloodlines obviously as well. On the highlight film, he reminds me a bit of Michael Wiley. He has good speed and nice wiggle in traffic. Excellent hands as well and he seems to catch the ball with his hands, not letting it get into his body. Maybe most impressive is how he threw his body around as a lead blocker. The kid will look great in S&G, just like his dad :oh:

The good news keeps on coming for Ohio State's football recruiting.

Only a few days after the Buckeyes landed a commitment from Braxton Miller, the top-rated quarterback in the nation, they added wide receiver Evan Spencer of Vernon Hills.

Spencer, son of former Ohio State star and current Chicago Bears running backs coach Tim Spencer, rates among the top six wide receivers in the Midwest, according to recruiting analyst Tom Lemming of CBS College Sports.

"Spencer is a four-star player, one of the best players in the Midwest. He could be a three-year starter in college," Lemming said. "He can play a lot of different positions. He could be a wide receiver or a defensive back.

"This is another case of Ohio State being Ohio State. They get the best players. Why? Because (coach) Jim Tressel is one of the five best recruiters in the nation."

Son of former running back commits

Evan Spencer, son of former Ohio State running back and assistant coach Tim Spencer, ran the halls of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center occasionally as a youngster. A year from now, he?ll be preparing to play for the Buckeyes.

A 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver prospect from Vernon, Ill., he became the 13th commitment to Ohio State?s 2011 recruiting class. He gave coach Jim Tressel the news Friday, then revealed it publicly yesterday.

?My dad was happy for me, and my whole family was pretty glad it was finally over,? Spencer said. ?It was getting kind of strenuous. So they were all glad it was over, and that my choice was Ohio State.?

He said he had narrowed his choices to Iowa and OSU, ?then I decided Ohio State was the best fit for me.?

Spencer was 6 months old when his mother and father moved the family from San Diego, where Tim Spencer had played out his NFL career, to Powell, where he began pursuit of a coaching career, finally landing a job with Ohio State under John Cooper.

Tim Spencer carried over to the Jim Tressel staff in 2001 and was part of the 2002 national championship team. , Then he left for the Chicago Bears, whose running backs he is in his seventh year of coaching.

Having a familiarity with Ohio State ?played into my decision a little bit, I guess, from the point I kind of knew what Ohio State had to offer,? said Evan Spencer, who was 11 when the family moved to Illinois. ?Things around there have changed a lot since I?ve been gone, but all the traditions and things are the same.?

At the same time, Iowa, Notre Dame, Illinois, Oregon and several other schools were pushing hard for his services.

?I narrowed it down to a few schools a few weeks ago before finally deciding Ohio State was where I wanted to go,? Spencer said. ?Then I pulled the trigger.?

1. Love the block he makes on a OL at 4:41. Flattens a dude who's probably a good 70-80 lbs. bigger than him

2. College ready body and frame already. Not skinny at all. Looks well put together

3. Just makes plays
