Former Bama, OSU WR Duron Carter may transfer to FAU
By Chuck King
Wide receiver Duron Carter, son of former NFL wide receiver Cris Carter, could be transferring to FAU with hopes of playing for the Owls in the 2012 season, a source has told OwlAccess.com.
According to the source, Carter recently applied for admission to FAU, but has yet to be accepted. He is also in the process of petitioning the NCAA for a transfer waiver, which would keep him from having to sit out a year before playing.
Carter is hoping to receive the exemption because he would be transferring to be close to his family. Cris Carter has been a South Florida resident for nearly two decades.
A product of Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas, Carter began his college career at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama, with a stop in between at Coffeyeville (Kansas) Community College. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound wide out caught 13 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown in 2009, his lone year as a Buckeye. In his lone season at Coffeyeville, Carter caught 44 passes for 690 yards and 10 touchdowns. Academic and transcript problems kept Carter from ever taking the field for the Crimson Tide.
Should Carter be granted the transfer would have two years of eligibility remaining. If he is accepted to FAU but the NCAA doesn't grant the waiver he would have to sit out a year and the 2013 season would be his only year of eligibility.
Carter?s status at Alabama has been the subject of widespread speculation in the last few months and Carter was not on a roster released by Alabama in the last few days.
Alabama wide receiver Duron Carter hoping to transfer to FAU
SOURCE: The St. Thomas Aquinas star has applied to the school.

Duron Carter, son of NFL great Cris Carter, has applied to FAU with hopes of joining the football team, according to a high-level school source.
Carter is also hoping to receive a transfer waiver ? on the grounds that he is moving closer to his South Florida-based family ? which will allow him to play the 2012 season.
If he is not granted the waiver, but enrolls at FAU, Carter will have one year of eligibility remaining.
His application to FAU is still pending.
When reached by phone, Cris Carter, who lives in Boca Raton, said only: "I'm sure it will all be resolved soon."
If Carter does enroll at FAU, it would be his fourth school in as many years.

Arnett had legitimate family issues and needed to be closer to home, IIRC.OhioState001;2181458; said:I don't like these transfer waivers DeAnthony Arnett got one and if Duron gets one they might as well give them to everyone.
