Offered: Corey Smith
Junior college WR, originally from Akron, is putting up big numbers
Updated: October 29, 2012
By Brad Bournival | BuckeyeNation
Offered is a series at BuckeyeNation where we talk to prospective recruits who have been offered by Ohio State.
Corey Smith (Akron, Ohio/East Mississippi Community College) doesn't think he's behind the eight ball at all in terms of stepping up at a Division I program.
A wide receiver with speed to burn, Smith went the junior college route to get to Division I and will likely start sooner rather than later.
With only two years of eligibility left, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Smith isn't afraid to get his hands dirty as he readies himself to play at the next level.
If the next level is anything like the last one, Smith will step in and fit perfectly. He spent a season at Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan before heading to East Mississippi Community College this year in an effort to latch on at a Division I program.

Illinois Football Recruiting: Corey Smith Visits Hawaii
Dec 9th, 2012
by Ricky WidmerFootball
2013 wide receiver/cornerback/safety Corey Smith visited the Hawaii Warriors this weekend. This is his first visit since visiting Mississippi State on November 30th.
Smith currently has offers from sixteen teams. It is projected that Ohio State is at the top of his list.
Teams that have offered at him include: Ohio State, Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Akron, Ball State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Miami (OH), Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Toledo, and Vanderbilt.
Smith is from Grand Rapids, Michigan, but played for East Mississippi State Community College this season. At wide receiver, he recorded 733 yards on 51 receptions and scored nine touchdowns. In his last game against Northwest Mississippi, he caught 10 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
The four-star recruit is ranked 2nd in the state of Mississippi, 3rd among wide receivers, and 9th overall among junior college recruits by 247Sports. Smith has great hands, can run routes well, and can make catches in traffic.
According to ESPN, Smith is ?a crafty route runner with quick hands, quick feet and good, sneaky speed to threaten the deep field.?
Corey Smith currently has three years or two seasons of eligibility left. This means that he still has a redshirt year available.
