WR Chris Henry Jr. (Official Thread)

I like what we've seen from Henry and Boyd. Not a ton of catches yet, but they've gotten real minutes, blocked, and must be doing things right in practice and the WR and Offense rooms or they wouldn't be getting the time. I could see either or both of them, as well as Bell, being like Olave and others of their predecessors and come on strong at the back end of the season. That will be important because we'll really need them next year.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this. Every time I see 11 and 15 on the field, they are blocking their asses off. Refreshingly so.

That's why they're seeing the field so often as frosh. You don't play WR here until you block and both CHJ and Boyd sure seem to get that. I used to be kind of dismissive of how we require WRs to block, but it truly can be the difference between a decent play and a TD. Glad to see CHJ is no prima donna, he's earning his PT.

Would imagine that tOSU WR coaches are pretty upfront about helping downfield with blocking. Kinda a baseline expectation. AND always has been a trademark of Buckeye WRs. On the turning the corner plays, always see a WR blocking, if not 'getting in the way' of a LB, which equates to a TD, if not a few extra yards. And as we've seen, those extra yards can be critical. And if it were me, I'd put together a tape of last game, isolating the blocks that spring longer runs and/or catches. Might be a great way to start a film session, and drive home said point....
