Worst Trades 80's & 90's

Didn't the Indians trade Joe Carter to the Padres for Sandy Alomar and Carlos Baerga? Carter went on to bat .239 with the Padres. The next year he bolted for Toronto where he won them a World Series with a dramatic 9th inning home run.
The Indians got Joe Carter from the Cubs in a deal that sent he and Mel Hall to Cleveland for Rick Sutcliffe, George Frazier and Ron Hassey. I think the Indians got a pitcher too, I can't remember his name though.

Lofton played for the Cubs for a while, he still had some good years in him after 1997. Why did the Braves release him?

Because he was a shit-head in the locker room.
Bobby Cox asked him the simplest things and he abjectly refused.

If you're going to listen to music, do it with your headphones on so other people can prepare quietly.
Be on time to meetings and batting practice

Precisely. Were they good trades? At this point, probably not. Did they have a choice? No.

C.C. was walking after the season, and they had no chance of resigning Lee and his value was at it's max because he still had another year on his contract at the time. The trade markets for prospects weren't as loose as they once were. Some Indians fans say they should have held on to Lee, but they weren't going to be competitive with or without him in 2010, so they got the most they could. Also, many people thought they got fleeced for Victor (including myself), but we ended up getting an ace in return (Masterson), so it looks like that one worked out pretty well. Sometimes it takes 3-4 years to fully evaluate those kinds of trades.

Time to add the Expos 2002 trade of Cliff Lee, Brandon Phillips, Grady Sizemore, and Lee Stevens for Bartolo Colon and Tim Drew.

Goodness that's a laughable ass-raping of epic proportions now.
