Troops pay baggage fees on way to war zones

(CNN) -- Some airlines are charging U.S. soldiers extra baggage fees to take their military kits with them as they set off for war.
Military personnel carry large, heavy kit bags containing boots, clothing and gear. In the past few months, airlines have instituted fees for all travelers ranging from $15 for one bag to $250 for a third bag.

Troops receive baggage authorization "chits" up front. If they don't they can also request reimbursement for the fees. Either way, they don't actually pay them.
sometimes i have to get authorization for my chits to, especially when im at not so close friends houses and i dont want to leave them a stinky present...

agree with you folks though, who cares, they dont actually pay them, the military should consider this when using commercial flights to move soliders and their gear (or someof it)

nope.

side note-yankees, bills, cavs and jackets? interesting choice, care to explain it?

Sure--born in Buffalo, raised on the Bills and Yankees (partly because the Clippers were their farm team, ie Donnie Baseball), moved to Columbus as a kid, adopted the Cavs (never cared for the Knicks) and traded in the Sabres for the Jackets when they arrived.

While sitting in a war zone, should a Marine be expected to be filling out forms for reimbursement for the money he had to spend to get he and his gear there?

At least he''l have enough light as the mortars come in and light up the sky.
