I quite enjoy watching soccer on TV.

Then again, I sat in the rain last weekend to watch an Orioles game that went into extra innings (I think that can technically be classified as waterboarding), so I can pretty much put up with anything.

Ok, I decided to skip the nice guy bullshit and get down to what motivates me to get me into the next one. I just bet some rcash against France.

If money and a chance to root against the fucking French can't get me going then its a lost cause.

Go Ecuador, or Uraguay or whoever the hell. Fuck France!

Most Euros approach the game by getting fucked in half drunk. I'd suggest a similar approach.

I had noticed this in real time as I watched on ESPN3 at work.

ESPN Flubs South Africa vs. Mexico Offsides Call -- Soccer FanHouse

I didn't get a chance to comment on it immediately as I had to leave my desk for a while right after that. I couldn't believe that veteran non-American announcers missed that obviously correct no-call. And contrary to what that article says, they did do several stills and replays shortly after the would-be goal to show the player in an offside position.

It's a shame because the offside rule is complicated enough as it is, and many people are going to learn about the game in the US by what they see and hear on these broadcasts. Here's hoping they do better the rest of the way.

Yep, it was commented on in posts 11 and 13 of this thread.

On the plus side, the replays with the stop-action with the shaded field were well done during the braodcasts today, allowing those calls to be seen fairly clearly on the replays.

Which just makes the live announcing of that call and its replays even more baffling.

South Africa 42 France 17 in rugby. I know its rugby and now football but I thought it might be comforting to you! :)
