20th Ranked Women?s Volleyball loses 3-0 to Oregon

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 20th-ranked Ohio State (6-3) women?s volleyball team lost a second straight match with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-18, 30-27) loss to Oregon (11-1) in the final match of the Sports Imports Classic in front of 935 fans. In the first match Saturday, fourth-ranked Southern California (10-0) defeated Purdue (7-4), 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-18). Ohio State?s [URL="https://admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1059515"]Danielle Meyer[/URL] (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) and [URL="https://admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1059501"]Briana McCarthy[/URL] (Sr., Beaver Dam, Wis.) scored 10 points each for the Buckeyes with both recording eight kills with Meyer adding an ace serve and two assist blocks and McCarthy a solo and two assist blocks. Oregon?s Gorana Maricic recorded a match-high 17 points for the Ducks with 15 kills, an ace serve and two assist blocks.
Oregon broke a two-all tie with a Kristen Forristall kill, a Buckeye error and a Katie Swoboda ace serve to take a 5-3 lead. The Ducks continued to build the team to win the game, 30-17 with a Maricic kill. The Ducks hit .500 for the game to .200 for the Buckeyes.
