Woman dies in ER lobby as 911 refuses to help

rocketman

flying low
I don't get the anger directed at 911. They handled it correctly. Why should they get involved if a patient is already in the hospital? They have more important and pressing things to do. What if you didn't like the paramedics who responded to your 911 call? What if they were leaving and you disagreed? Would it make sense to call 911 and ask for a different paramedic crew? Nope.

the hospital on the other hand should burn....

Both should niether stepped in to help if the hospital is refusing 911 should no matter what.

Not really. If a person is admitted to ta hospital, they are under their care. A paramedic has no obligation and has no right to treat a person in the hospital's care. I guarentee you, if 911 called the paramedics, the paramedics would have refused to do anything at the hospital.
If a hospital is inept and falling apart, it is not the duty of 911 and the paramedics to apply a bandaid. They have better things to do.

I don't know why people called 911. If it was my wife I would have raised "cane" with the staff until she was taken care of. However, maybe they did as I believe I read somewhere that she was actually being taken out of the facility by the police because "they were causing a scene". This is just a sad state of affairs.....:(

911 has no real authority to begin with. this is like sueing an operator for someone refusing to accept the charges on a long distance phone call.

hey tibs, how do you think a doctorb would respond to this statement:

"hi, im with 911. i demand you treat patient XXX immediately or im going to have them taken to another hospital!"

This story is all over the news here. Apparently she was laying on the floor of the emergency room vomiting, the hospital had someone come out and clean the vomit up but still didn't have anyone check her out. The hospital is somehow trying to blame this on the un-insured people saying that the are over burdened, interesting spin, but I don't think it will work for em.

well, if she really was under arrest the hospital doesn't have a leg to stand on me thinks. that makes her a warden of the state and she has to be treated.
