I wasn't planning a wedding around a football game. I was planning one around a deployment.

OK, between the USMC, and the fact that you attended the Holiday Bowl at the end of that season, you get a pass.

amen! (says the guy who had the huge expensive family wedding to keep peace in the family)

So I'm not the only one.

Our plan is to renew our vows on our 10th anniversary in the manner of our choosing. And it will *not* involve cousins or family friends that we don't know.

:p

Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?

Yeah.

Most people I know who are engaged for a long time do it b/c one or the other isn't sure about getting married but they're getting free sex so are willing to put up with it.

I guess I'm old school and think you should be excited about getting married.

Agreed.

Had thisa girl I worked with who had this same situation, they were engaged for 5 years. She was working in a corparate job, to help pay the bills while he worked on he doctrate. Turned out when he was a TA and around campus, he was tagging a bunch of the girls. She had no idea until some of the college kid, who interned at her office, ran into him at a party.

Was this when you worked at Winking Lizard or where you work now?

The Lizard.

By the way I agree with you about being old school and once you are engaged you should WANT to be married. I have been engaged since June of last year. ?the wedding isn't until this coming up July and I am already counting down the days wishing it would get here sooner. One because I can't wait to get married, and two because then I wont be having to pay for the wedding anymore :)

Good question. It shows that we want to be together forever -- the same that a marriage does.

But I do have a really pretty ring.

No, it shows you have the "intent" to be together forever.

A marriage shows a "finality" of the committment.

Again, just an opinion.

BTW, does your family keep nagging you about when you'll get marreid?
