I have only just now recovered from this game. No voice this morning. Haven't watched this thing on DVR yet, but I imagine it looks almost identical to our game with you guys last year (which was also Homecoming, coincidentally).

Some day Bo's going to pull his head out of his ass and blitz like he means it. When we started blitzing in the second half, the whole tone of the game changed. The defense got into it, because instead of just passively reacting to what the offense was doing, they started trying to dictate to Wiscy what would happen.

Defense is predatory. It's always more stimulating to hunt than to trap. Stop freaking trapping the opponent and go out and HUNT THEM.

That said, I have absolutely no idea what will happen this week. I'm guessing Brax and Co. run all over our defense, the offense craps themselves, and we have the same game as last year, minus the miracle comeback.

The better team won. Wisconsin just capitalized on turnovers early. Once things leveled out in the second half, you could see the talent disparity. On the positive side, Borland was all over the field and Stave looked pretty good for just his second start.

GG knapp, alexhortdog, DallasHusker.

For all of you that were watching this game that are not fans of the Huskers...

I feel I need, on behalf of all Husker fans, to apologize for that craptastic first 3 1/2 quarters. Although, you do have to admit that watching Bucky shit the bed and roll out of the state cappy with the only 'W' being on those horrendous unis they were sporting was worth the time.

Things were happening that haven't happened before. Burkhead runs into his own blocker and fumbles. First snap of the game is a fumble. Papuchis not knowing for some odd reason that two safeties are better than, well, frankly, none. Betcha Bo was calling Carl at halftime...

I whole heartedly believe that even if Ball had closed his arms on that ball, he wasn't going anywhere anyways.

Now, we roll into Columbus, where Pelini Kryptonite sits in the form of a 6-3, 230 lb sophomore named Braxton Miller - who was getting hit late all damn day on Saturday. Never thought I'd think that a Sparty team would do dirty things - but it was going all game long.

I didn't realize how freaking big Brax is until he lined up to take the first snap of the game. Geez, where did JT find his last 2 QBs?!?

Even though we got the 'W' (literallly, :biggrin:), I said a few things earlier last week that came to fruition:

1. Burn those damn uniforms.
2. If there is no tackling, there is wailing and knashing of teeth in Nebraska.
3. Tragic Martinez showed up at Quarterback until halftime and was replaced by Taylor Martinez.
4. Borland is a beast. At least he was until he tuckered out.
5. Although Kenny Bell and Turner can get down the field in a hurry - they can't seem to get open waaaay down the field.
6. Even as bad as the first half was - it was self inflicted injuries that killed us. Seemed like we were destined to stay on our side of the 50 all night until the 2nd half. The coverage was horrible in the 1st half - no idea why. When we went to a base package, we did just fine.
7. Stave is going to be a decent QB if they can keep any semblance of receiving threats around him.
8. Our O line was blowing off the ball pretty well.
9. Fuck Bucky. Just thought I'd get that one out there.
10. I love Nessler. I hate Cunningham, and was uber-happy when I heard Nessler calling that game on Saturday.

All in all I'm happy they won, even though they got away with one Saturday. But hell, if it's good enough that Bama can win a NC by scoring only one TD, I'll take a 20 unanswered to win a football game.

@B1Gfootball
#B1G Co-Offensive POW honors go to NEB QB Taylor Martinez and NU QB Kain Colter.

@B1Gfootball
Martinez accounted for 3 TDs, rallied NEB from a 2nd half deficit, while Colter rushed for 4 TDs and had 297 yards of total offense.

That's hardly "Tragic." :wink2:

Nebraska opened B1G play last year with Wisconsin and Ohio State, and they do so again this year, only with the venues flipped. Last year, they got plunger raped 48-17 at Wisconsin and then pulled off their greatest comeback ever at home against Ohio State. This year, they pull off a near-identical comeback against Wisconsin, their second-biggest ever. The only logical deduction is that they'll get plunger raped at Ohio State. Yeah, I'll take that...

Haha, I'm sure you would! :biggrin: Here's hoping that that part of history does NOT repeat itself!
