Lol, one week in and things are already screwed up.
Feel like it will be a minor miracle to get to a real CFB Playoff.
Clemson, the SEC and the B12 will have mobile refrigerated morgues outside their stadiums before they give up on a season. The only real question is will the B1G be part of it.
Just sayn': Makes you wonder who the "Typhoid Mary" was that (possibly) broke the COVID-19 protocall, got infected, and infected the others, i.e. a player, a staffer, or the head coach.
Reports are that the outbreak originated from players who attended a wedding on Saturday.
Still don't understand why the CFP doesn't push things back another 2-4 weeks, but I think they might be forced to in the end anyway.
The CFP games are currently going forward as scheduled, with the Rose Bowl Game and Sugar Bowl serving as the semifinals on Jan. 1, 2021 and the national championship game on Jan. 11.
Besides the difficulty of getting all the Power 5 conference commissioners and school presidents to agree on anything, I'm guessing that so far it is due to TV contracts (i.e. the money).
The Rose Bowl people have already cancelled the annual Rose Bowl Parade so there is really no reason the Rose Bowl needs to be played on Jan 1 either. As long as there are open dates at the venues (i.e. Rose Bowl, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Raymond James Stadium) the CFP games could (fairly) easily be bumped back a couple weeks .
Waiting so long to start playing when there was a predicted surge now never made sense...
