Wisconsin 78, #12 Ohio State 73 (Final)

It sucks living in Oregon. I already shell out $90 or $99 for ESPN Gameplan so I can't afford ESPN Full Coart. I've only seen the VA Tech, Illinois, St. Joe's, and Iowa St. games. The good news is Ohio St. will be on national television a whole lot next year because of our success this season but mostly because of the Thad 5. I haven't seen Wisconsin play yet so what kind of team are they? Is there something we need to watch for? Go Buckeyes!

#42 alando tucker 6-6
18.9 ppg 5.7 rbs 1.6a
strengths: think bigger, quicker, faster sullinger. plays a very good inside game for a player of his size. excellent scorer and rebounder, very good ball handling skills. solid ball skills, which become dynamic with his quickness. good shot. decent passer, deserve more credit then he gets. can play 1-4. playes mostly within his game. limits his stupid turnovers.

weakness: can be forced to be "too athletic" averages 2 to's a game. doesnt pick up many fouls, but if he does pick up an early foul he starts reaching and will end up in foul trouble.

#23 kammron taylor 6-2
15.5ppg 3.4rb 2.5apg
strength: slasher, high energy, high tempo style of play. plays a very good game with the ball, willing to break his man down off the ball. very quick feet and fast with the ball. will use his quickness to get to the ft line.
weakness: aggressive player, sometimes overaggresive. turnover prone. will take chances with the ball. ineffcient long ball shooter (but will beat you if left open).

#32 brian butch 6-11
10.3ppg 6.9rbs
strength: good with his face to the basket, has a very nice shot. willing to shoot the 3ball. ok shot blocker. big body, space eater.
weakness: slow feet, will take fouls. has picked up 4 or more fouls in 6 games, fouled out against UM in less than 20 mins.

#4 ray nixon 6-7
6.1ppg 1.6rbs 1.6 assists
strength: solid jump shooter, average ball skills. plays with intensity.
weakness: will commit fouls, doesn't rebound well for a 6-7 guy, not much of a scorer.

#5 jason chappell 6-10
4.8 ppg 4.3rbs 2.0assists
strength: decent rebounder, decent scorer. will play about 20 minutes, but sometimes plays 25 other games hardly plays depending on the flow of the game.
weakness: will take fouls. has not had much of an impact in b10 play besides eating space and taking minutes.

#22 micheal flowers 6-2
5.6ppg 3.3rbs 2.3assists
strengths: local boy, fan favorite. good shooter, has a nice 3ball. good rebounder for a guy his size.
weakness: will take fouls, has a tendency to play with his hands, not his feet.

the knock on the badgers-
strength: athletic team that will play within a very disciplined team with flex and switch hand off system. have one of the best home court advantages in the country and the kohl center is nearly impossible to win, even though nd st rode thier tractors and combines in to beat the badgers.
weakness: have a tendency to be in foul trouble, on a slide since the loss to ohio state at the schott 3-5 in their last 8.

I am going to stand by my earlier posts and say that perimeter play will once again mean the difference of Ohio State.

1) Good perimeter defense will keep Wisconsin from putting the ball into their front court where they can do damage.

2) Good perimeter offense can create space where scoring opportunities can occur within eight feet.

I can imagine something similar to Minnesota, where Wisconsin tries to be physical, dictate tempo and use the shot clock to make us defend for 25+ seconds.

I could see Matta countering with more full court pressure on defense and pushing the ball quickly in transition to "speed them up."

If that's the case, I hope Mayes is available. We'll need some minutes from him to rest Butler and Foster.

Not on TV down here. Will have to listen to Keels and Stokes, although I enjoy that. IMHO this will be a tough test on the road and the x factor is Bo Ryan, that guy can really coach in a big game. We'll need to shoot it well and keep Terrance on the floor. If we can start well, take the crowd out a little it will help. :oh:

I'm sure it's been said already, but this would be a huge win for us, going into Wisconsin, where they barely ever lose, and handing them a loss. I feel that soon, we're going to have to start being more consistent in the paint because our efficient outside shooting is not going to last forever. I agree that Dials needs to have a big game, and our defense must be at its best tonight. My Prediction- tOSU- 73 - Wisconsin- 68.
