Iowa - "We're the new Sparty"

Exactly

Who was coaching the end of that game? John L Smith?

Giving up the fake punt was incredibly stupid. Who besides Kirk Ferentz and his staff didn't see that one coming? You don't NEED a punt return - you NEED to make them punt. Period.
Then not spiking the ball at the end.
Then Stanzi throwing a pass that was neither on the sideline nor past the first down marker.

Looks like I'll have to root for Dantonio to go all the way undefeated. No way I want to see Bulemia and the cheeseheads go to the RB, and it looks like there's no way for us to get there barring a few miracles.

We would own the tiebreaker if Sparty-Wiscy-OSU all ended up with 1 loss in Big Ten play because we would have the higher ranking in the BCS. It would cause massive raging, but we would be in the RB.

We need to get all of our fans on the same page here.

I don't know if Whisky keeps winning they just might pass us in the human polls...unless of course we destroy Iowa....:)

KIRK FERENTZ GREATEST COACH EVER JUST ASK E$PN

Seriously, I know he seems like a genuine guy as a person, but it's too much fun to pile on this frighteningly overrated asshat every time he fucks his team out of the game. Dude gets the next 5 Les Miles Memorial Snooki Awards for Game Management.

Wiscy doesn't really have any more chances to be impressive to the human voters with a big time matchup. They'd have to pass us in this weeks poll coming off the big Iowa win I would think.

Regardless people SHOULD root for a split of the Big Ten championship which would be basically a guarantee at a BCS bowl slot.

That poor clock mamnagement is on the quarterback in my opinion. Everybody and their dog knew that the right play was to spike the ball and save the timeout in that situation. When you see that your retard quarterback is looking to the sideline in that situation, what choice do you have but to call the timeout?

Hard to spike the ball when you're lined up in shot gun...

Ferentz should have called a timeout with 1:40 left (and I was yelling at the TV at the time for him to do so). Wiscy only had 1 timeout left - if he stopped them without a TD he could run out the clock by falling forward. But that extra 30 or 40 seconds is a lot better than having 1 extra timeout left on the ensuing drive for a FG.

And everybody in the world except Ferentz and Stanzi knew they just needed to spike the ball with 12 seconds left after the first down temporarily stopped the clock. Spike it, run 1 play and call a timeout for the FG attempt. It was pathetically obvious. Stanzi actually made the spike signal to the sideline and they must have told him not to.

And how are you not in 'punt safe' with 6-point lead and 6:25 left?

3-time Big Ten Coach of the Year, my ass.

I just don't get all of the credit given to Ferentz. Yesterday is not the first time he screwed up.

Hayden Fry won 60.0% of his games at Iowa.
Kirk Ferentz has won 60.6% of his games at Iowa.

What's to love?

Pretend you're an Iowa fan, now look at the records for all coaches, minus Ferentz, Fry and Evanshevski and see how close you come to 60%. It's all relative.

I didn't know that....

bielema_tattoo_medium.jpg

The former Iowa player and assistant coach Bret Bielema (now head coach at Wisconsin) has a Hawkeyes tattoo on his leg.

Yes, Bret Bielema has an Iowa Tigerhawk tattoo on his ankle. Bielema was a walk-on-turned-captain at Iowa in the late 80s and early 90s. No, that doesn't affect his ability to coach a rival football team.

Nor is this his worst tattoo from a professional standpoint. Bielema also got the infamous belly-button-turned-monkey-colon tattoo in Cancun in '91, and both coaches and players are very upset about the graphic depiction of Joe Paterno violating a dolphin's blowhole that graces Bielema's left shoulder blade.
