A dyin' breed.
Last weekend I grilled up some filets for me and the ol lady, and had some red wine, and it was off the hook.
Now I'm a man's man, and enjoy a good beer like anyone else. But I think as I'm getting older (I'll be 29 in April) I think my tastes are changing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I feel some reluctancy to give in to this new found enjoyment of a good wine, and deep inside, there's a man wanting for a beer.
Tonight was her birthday, and we went to Capital Grill (We live in Vegas) and we got a nice bottle of Cab with a couple of rib eyes. After the meal, which was fantastic, (although the check was a proverbial kick in the balls) I found myself satisfied, but uneasy. I also find myself way drunker after a bottle of wine. =D
So I have several questions:
1.) Does anyone else find drinking wine with food enjoyable, and if so, what pairings do you prefer?
2.) Is it normal for me to feel like a pussy when I'm sipping wine while having a steak? I mean, the steak is medium rare, and because of the possible negative connotations of a young man drinking wine, I let the blood from the steak run down my jaw for effect, but I still feel incomplete inside.
3.) Should I embrace my inner man/carnivore and substitute wine with the blood of virgins and/or Amstel Light?
Discuss.
