Will Kirk Ferentz still be Iowa's head coach in August, 2009?

I don't think that they can afford to get rid of him yet, it is Iowa BTW. Hell, they aren't even the wost in the Big Ten :psu: .
The Governor is looking into a player-rape cover-up at the University. I'm thinking that at least moves Ferentz immediately to the front of the line on 'hot seat' lists.

From a request in the police blotter thread.

Will Kirk Ferentz still be the head football coach at Iowa on August 1st, 2009?

In February his contract was extended throught 2012.

Sweet. Thanks!

Player arrests, recruit arrests, a brewing sexual assault cover-up investigation instigated by the governor of the state, and back-to-back six win seasons highlighted by losses to sub .500 Iowa State and Western Michigan teams, plus two straight seasons with losses to Indiana. Keep in mind, in 2007 Iowa went 6-6, and didn't even play Ohio State or Michigan!

I'm thinking the AD is gone before the end of this season, and they bite the bullet and pull the trigger on Ferentz after the season is over, contract extension or not. The only possible saving grace for Ferentz is the joke of a schedule for this season, which has Iowa dodging OSU and U-M again, and includes a non-conference slate of Maine, FIU, Iowa State, and Pitt. :shake:

That a decent bowl game will remove him from. They do take pride over there in Iowa, but they just can't afford to be too picky. I agree that the problems there are severe, but they will allow him time to set it right. He might just get the axe, I just don't think it will be that quick.

Lengthy explanation of the sexual assault case here, which implicates at least six Iowa football players: two who are charged with assault, two who were present at the time, and two other players that were (allegedly) directly told by Ferentz to move back into the vacated room where the rape took place after Ferentz would have been made aware of the assault charges, with one of those players reportedly disposing of evidence once he moved back into the dorm (bloody mattress cover and condoms).

Alleged victim's mom criticizes UI | press-citizen.com | Iowa City Press Citizen

...

Affidavits included in the search warrant indicated that four Iowa football players -- Everson, Satterfield, Clemmie Jevon Pugh and Michael Daniels Jr. -- were either inside or came by the allegedly vacated Hillcrest Residence Hall Room where the attack allegedly occurred.

According to the warrants and related documents, the alleged attack occurred in room N207, which allegedly had been vacated by football player Lance Tillison. According to the warrant documents, wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos told police that within days of the reported assault, Ferentz told Tillison to return to N207. Johnson-Koulianos also agreed to move into the room. Pugh, Daniels, Tillison and Johnson-Koulianos have not been charged in the case. Pugh has left the university.

An affidavit from UI police officer Brian Meyer said the alleged victim told police she "drank a lot in a short amount of time and got drunk very fast," the night of Oct. 13, 2007. She then left Hillcrest for a couple of hours before returning and encountering Pugh and Satterfield outside. The affidavit says the alleged victim told police the players took her outside of Everson's first floor room before taking her to N207, which Satterfield had a key for.

According to documents related to the search warrants and criminal complaints, both Everson and Satterfield sexually assaulted the alleged victim after she became intoxicated. The alleged victim, who told police she had no recollection of a sexual encounter with Everson, said she woke up with blood on her hands and body. The alleged victim tried to get back into her dorm but was locked out and went to a friends' dorm.

According to information in the court files, the friend then took the alleged victim to the emergency room, where a sexual assault examination was conducted and later picked up by UI Public Safety.

In the days that followed, Johnson-Koulianos said other members of the team began to hear about the alleged assault as "rumors started floating around that Everson and Satterfield raped someone," the warrant documents state.

Ferentz later suspended Satterfield and Everson and said they were "not in good standing" with the team. The warrant documents state after Johnson-Koulianos moved into N207, he threw out a new condom and a used condom found behind a bed and a mattress cover with an "orangish-reddish color" substance on it.

Iowa Scout thread Scout.com: which Hawkeye got arrested now?

Comment on the second page re: Reiff's arrest Saturday night:

The chase took twenty minutes and eight officers (while he was disorientated)? Get that kid the damn ball!
:slappy:

I love how the Hawkeye fans dismiss Riley Reiff's arrest over the weekend: "It's just public intox. All college kids drink! You make it sound like an ax murder ... blah blah blah"

Yes, college kids drink, but this ain't no public intox. This is getting hammered, going into an alley and striping off your clothes, then running buck naked around the city for nearly half an hour while eight police officers chase after you. Sounds like 'Borat meets COPS!'

I gotta side with the Hawkeye fans on this one, if the kid can run buck naked and disoriented in a place he isn't that familiar with, and avoid getting caught for nearly a half hour. They need to get his ass the ball.

because that is as close as you can get to his head.

It's not nice to talk that way about a long-time member with a recently changed avatar, even though his problem has always been obvious.

As God is my witness, I did not know our "Cognascente..." was a Hawkeye.

In retrospect, his "Observations" posts are much more impressive. He must have been several hundred miles away from his reported location during most of those games.
