Rational U of M alumnus here, please don't run me off the board.

Henne just threw the ball up for grabs and Edwards came down with it. Avant is good and Breaston is decent. They are not even close to Edwards talent.
First, regarding Henne, let me shamelessly copy this from
mgoblog:
Player.......Att-Cmp Yards Pct TD Int Avg
-----------------------------------------
QB #1........270-456 3331 59.2 24 10 12.3
QB #2........240-399 2743 60.2 25 12 11.3
QB #1 is Navarre's 5th year, QB #2 is Henne. They _both_ had Edwards to work with. While Henne's stats were obviously inflated by Edwards, the kid has talent and can only get better.
Regarding Avant and Breaston, well, of course they aren't close to Edwards, but after Breaston's Rose Bowl I'd think he should be characterized as much better than "decent." He's no Ginn, but remember he was injured most of this season.

Their defense sucks!!! When your best DB is Marlin Jackson(he and Shazor are the most overrated DB in college football) They better hope Shazor doesn't leave because their secondary is already horrible.
Our defense does indeed suck, which was disturbing considering the talent in Woodley, Watson, (IMO) Jackson, and Shazor. Go to any U of M board right now and you'll see everyone calling for Hermann's head.
Even if Jackson is overrated (I won't argue since his 2003 was mediocre), it appears he's still thought of as good enough to warrant a 1st round pick. As for the rest of the secondary, no comment. I'm also hearing that Shazor will likely leave. :ohwell:

They lose Finley their punter. Molesko is gonna be good but theirs a big difference between having all day to kick in H.S. and having a second or two to kick in college.
Eh, we went to the Rose Bowl in 2003 with truly awful special teams. A punter really shouldn't affect a team's ranking, and Mesko has a pretty strong chance of being better than Finley.
The bottom line is, we're returning Hart, Henne, Avant, Breaston, Watson, Woodley, and (pleasepleaseplease) maybe Shazor, along with most of the offensive line and defense. If we actually fire Hermann, I'd say we deserve a top 5 ranking.
I'm simply not familiar enough with OSU beyond the obvious strong finish, Ginn, and mostly returning team to compare the two. The big 10 will be fun next year with U of M, OSU, and Iowa. Of course Purdue might screw everything up with their pathetic schedule.
