Ever heard of Archie Griffin? :roll1:

Clarett didn't even play a full seasonh b/c of injuries.

Yeah, once or twice voted for him too, though without Clarett I wouldn't have been on the field in 2002 to shake his hand :)

Didn't play a full season and still had what, 1300 yards? Remember him running over people like a freight train? The catch against Michigan? Ripping the ball from Sean Taylor? Dude was a lunatic, but I still don't think I've ever seen another person play their ass off like he did

I went with the 3 three Heisman's. I also took the man who should be the 4th Heisman on this list (and 3rd if we're counting sequentially.)

Considering Archie, Eddie and Keith, it's impossible to take Mo C. However.... as much as that pick is being laughed off... go back and watch some 2002 games... watch Reece run.... tell me if you're still laughing. Yes, the kid became a huge personal disaster... but when it comes to great running backs, even if for only one year, he most definitely is in the conversation. It continues to bother me to think about what could have been with him. I honestly believe with MoC in 2003 OSU wins back to back NCs... We needed a mudder against Wisky (Well.. it's on carpet, of course, but we had no ground game) and while he may not have been enough against Michigan, if memory serves, even after losing to Mich we ended up in a BCS bowl and not too far out of the NC game BCS points-wise. Win Wisky, and the Michigan game may not have made a difference (Think OU losing to Kstate that very same year)

Much of what you say here about Mo is correct. He was very talented and a very good ball carrier. But the poll is about the greatest tailbacks and here are way too many that were better than him. he played what in 8 games? What might of been doesn't matter. Just look at the people listed in here and then reconsider what you are saying.
Was he one of the best tailbacks? He wasn't even close.

Tough to have to leave Kieth off but how can you not take Archie and Eddie? (Of course 14 or so people out there don't think Hop Cassady is a top 3 multi purpose player of all time so anythings possible I guess :roll1: )

Vote for three.... (you can get both of Archie's Heismans with just one vote)

I'm shocked that 2 people have voted that DIDN'T include Eddie. Of course, I haven't read through the thread, so maybe there's a logical explanation.

Since I'm the only one so far, I'm going to admit to be the douchebag that voted for Clarett. (And his opposites Eddie and Archie)

The National Championship game, nuff said. All of the off the field crap afterwards tarnishes it a bit, but I still can't take too much away from what he did that season as a true freshman

The National Championship game?!?! Really? That's the game that earns Clarett's spot as one of the best ever at tOSU? I mean, if you would have said Washington State or maybe Michigan, you'd have a small argument. But, Krenzel was twice the running back Clarett was on 1/3/03, and he didn't bring any of the attitude.

You and a lot of us
If he had stayed injury-free, we might have had a freshman heisman winner. He did have many great plays

I stand by what I said, even upon reconsideration. I'll remind you I - like everyone else but a hand full - voted Archie, Keith and Eddie.

He played in 11 games. 1237 and 16tds. As a Freshman... a record, I might add...

Archie? 867 yards
Keith? Sat behind Timmy Spencer.
Eddie had 37 carries as a Frosh... only 12 of which came after the three fumbled v. Ill.

Obviously I'm not arguing MoC was better than these three guys... but it is absolutely about what could have been. Given 3 years, and I freely admit there were not 3 years, he would have very likely have been an obvious pick in this poll.

Was he one of the best tailbacks? He wasn't even close.

It's a lot closer than I think you're giving credit for. What makes a great tailback? A long and distinguished career? Sure. I'll buy that. But... what else? Raw talent. Reece had more of the later than any other running back I've seen since Hershel Walker or Marcus Dupree.
