I believe the hit on locker was a "cheap" hit but Helmet to Helmet isn't always cheap. Sometimes the hitter is looking to put his helmet on the ball. Also when a 6'6 defender is hitting a 6'0 ball carrier it is difficult to not get helmet.

The point is that if you let up then you have to hope he is actually heading out of bounds. I think 9 times out of 10, freshman Jake Locker takes his chances 1-on-1 with a CB.

I'm sorry but Locker is a step and a half out of bounds and shoulders are at a 45 degree angle to the sideline. The DB shouldn't be putting his angle where it was and should have tried to let up a little more if he wasn't blatently trying to hurt Jake Locker.

Jake locker is a gamer,and now they have chris polk, so I think wash. will not be to bad this year.:)

No, he had just turned out a split-second earlier. He's also right at the 1st down marker, so hesitation by the defender = 1st down.

Agreed. A good example of a non-dirty helmet to helmet was Jay "crazy eyez" Richardson on Colt McCoy in 06. Yes, their helmets did contact, but only because Jay was trying to deflect the pass and they're about the same height. He definitely was not leading with his helmet, but got a penalty anyway. I guess I should have said "intentional helmet to helmet = dirty". BTW, Wright is 6'0", Locker is 6'3". Wright was head hunting.

Are you watching the same vid? Wright put the top of his helmet right in Locker's facemask! Add to that the fact that Wright already had one foot out of bounds, and had to turn towards the sideline to hit him, meaning that Locker was more out of bounds than Wright. Even worse, Wright bent his knees just before contact and then exploded up into Locker's face without even trying to wrap him up. Poor tackling technique and an attempt to injure.
