I won't play the "well Wisconsin would lose to both or OU and Florida could beat Cal" card, I don't have too. I DO think that OU is about even with Wisconsin and I DO think Florida is a better team than Wisconsin. Same argument that was used against Ohio STate in 2002 when they found ways to win without being spectacular could be applied to Wisconsin right now (although the methods and results are different)...

I agree for the most part, but the big difference between Wiscy and tOSU '02 is defense. They have been exposed a couple times on defense, and don't have the offense to hang against a team that is better defensively. 2002's close wins were thanks to a stingy defense and opportunistic offense, not vice-versa.

I knew I was forgetting someone....

Maybe switch out Miami (FL) for Rutgers, but unless Rutgers finds a defense quickly they are going to lose 4 out of their next 5 games (cincy, at syracuse which isn't an easy one anymore, South Florida, West Virginia at UCONN)....

IF they don't figure out a way to stop the run, it will be very hard for them to win all of those.

I have a feeling that next game with cincy is going to decide their season. I personally think UC will win, but revenge has to be on the minds of the scarlet knights.

true, that's what I meant by different methods....

I think everyone here would take a team that finds a way to win, right?

I've been watching UC off and on tonight on Versus and I think it will come down to USF vs. UC in the Big East.

Yep, but I'd take a team that wins with defense every time.

Defense wins championships, that's for sure.

I wouldn't put Wisconsin on that level yet though, and if Ikegwonu is hurt for any length of time, Wisconsin might have some serious issues next week against Illinois....

You know, I think some of you guys have helped change my mind. I don't think Wisconsin or BC or Kentucky or USF (the last two of which I failed to mention in my earlier post) would beat the likes of Florida, but that shouldn't matter. It shouldn't primarily be about who would beat who, but rather about the credentials that a team earns over the course of the season. And in that respect, the undefeated teams I mentioned above deserve consideration for that #5 spot ahead of Florida, Oklahoma or WVU.

The reason why this whole thing is so difficult to pinpoint is that many of those teams have huge question marks at best, if not serious flaws. What matters though is that those teams have taken care of business with the schedules that they've faced so far - regardless of how good they looked or how strong the competition has been along the way. That's more than can be said for Florida at this point.

Exactly, and that is why the Buckeyes need points out of their offense this year.

In 2002 all the Defense needed was seconds and minutes.

Well, you know, the parity in CFB is becoming more apparent each season. FSU is about to unseat FSU as the #3 team in Florida and will remain there as long as Bowden remains in charge. I just don't get Bowden and Paterno. Yeah, they've earned the right to stay as long as they want, but why stay and run the programs you built into the ground. Seems selfish to me. Oops, went of on a tangent...sorry.

Nice to see LSU take the top spot in the AP poll. USC was a couple of weeks away from passing us by on the list of schools with most weeks atop the AP poll. For anyone interested ND and OU are tied. We're next at 95. USC started the season at 87 or 88.
