Who wins the World Baseball Classic?

Thats just one of those things that people will have to disagree on. I grew up watching Pete Rose break Ray Fosse's arm in an All Star game so I kind of always revert back to the mind set that any game worth playing is worth playing like its for blood.

Thing is, I agree with that. I hated Pete Rose, but thought he was unfairly criticized for running over Fosse. He was just playing the game all out. That's hustle.

To me that's totally different than a pitcher throwing at the next batter, when some guy "takes too long" - in the eyes of someone - watching a home run. That's not hustle, that's a kid in a sandbox throwing a tantrum. Especially in the American League, where the pitcher doing the beaning never has to step in the box himself. The other thing here is it is an international event. What is acceptable or unacceptable in MLB may be exactly the opposite elsewhere.

Everyone has their point of view on this subject (like fighting in hockey). There's no right answer...but I still think you're wrong.

Watching a bit of some of the games it seems apparent that other nations are a lot more fired up about this event than us. Anybody here really into it, or just giving it a passing glance while waiting for the real season - fantasy season :wink2: - like me?

It is ALL about the VCASH!!!

As long as Puerto Rico beats the USA again & Venezuela doesn't win it all, I am cashing! (Still kicking myself for not putting a little down on Venezuela)

Much like hockey, if the Americans had to police themselves accordingly they wouldn't have been doing any of that stuff earlier. I would have been just as ok if the Dutch bastard of a pitcher drilled an American for hot dogging.

Ok, no I wouldn't have. Fuck the Dutch.

Bring on fantasy season, this is just something to watch until then.

Well the USA survives.

Korea beats Japan and secures their spot in the 'final 4'

Japan v Cuba tonight to see who is the 4th team.

The USA plays defending champion Japan in the semi-finals tonight. The winner will play Korea who defeated Venezuela 10-2 in the other semi. That's the same Venezuela who bitch-slapped in the USA twice.

The thing is, a one-and-done baseball tournament can lead to all sorts of results. Momentum in baseball is today's starting pitcher.

Hell, even the Pittsburgh Pirates will some games this year. They might even win a series or two, and they'll still be a bottom feeder. But for that one game or two, they'll look half decent.

Wow Joe Morgan just looked really stupid. He claims the first baseman should use his left foot on the bag, and DeRosa used the wrong foot. Yeah, that is great Joe, if you are left handed. Yet DeRosa is right handed, and if he used his left foot he would have to reach across his body for the ball. I can't believe he spent about 5 minutes trying to explain it, and was totally wrong.

Morgan is a complete dumb fuck. I mean like 2 brain cells from legally retarded dumb.

Thats nothing compared to some of the gems he's thrown out there over the years. There is a blog that tracks it, name escapes me right now but its not hard to find.

annnnnnd thats why Dunn should never be in RF (if you have a normal roster and can avoid it).

Sac fly exposes his rag arm, well hit but catchable fly ball exposes his lack of range.

Oswalt is getting rocked

2-5 :pissed:

The real problem is DeRosa playing first base while Ryan Howard, Mark Teixeira and Lance Berkman are playing MLB exhibition games. :ohwell:

They cut it to 4-6, get 2 outs/man on 3rd in the 8th and Jeter makes a throwing error to make it 4-7.

3 errors, poor defense and a lot of second rate american pitchers on the roster look to be the end of another WBC for team USA.

EDIT
now 4-8.... pitchers can't get anybody out.

Congrats to Japan and Korea for proving their all star teams are better than our above average guys during Spring Training. They have come a long way and their improvement has made the game better, worldwide. Baseball continues to grow and that's a good thing.

Let me know who wins the title tomorrow night, Mr. Selig. I'll be watching WWE wrestling.

True enough but it still pisses me off to no end.

If you are going to play, play to win. If not, don't send a fucking team.

Mr. Selig doesn't care cuz he will be counting the money that will come rolling in due to a Korea v Japan final. 90% of TV sets in Japan & Korea will be watching this game. The whole goal for this is to increase global markets and it is working.

The only question remains... does BB win vcash with me? Or not. While Korea wins me $5 million less, BB didn't bet on Korea
