Vinsanity

Freshman
For probably a month now, it has been Winston-Manziel-Mariota and then, after Oregon lost, Winston-Manziel.

But Manziel was pretty bad Saturday. Hard to vote for a guy after that, and especially if they follow up with another disappointment at Missouri next week. And Mariota was also off, and his team has now been trucked twice and has become the poster child for the folly of preseason rankings. Also Saturday, any chance for anyone from Baylor to sneak up disappeared too.

Which leaves Winston ... will voters go with the best on the field and just hope the investigation doesn't come back to embarrass them? Will he be charged before ballots are due, and how would that complicate a vote?

And then does McCarron get the default Lifetime Achievement Award?

An unusual year in that there isn't much debate about who is the best on the field, but quite an off-the-field complication.

Voting takes place after the conference championship games. If he's cleared by then, Winston in a landslide. If it's still uncertain, Winston by a lesser margin, but nonetheless still Winston. If he's arrested, then nobody should win it. Maybe Pitt's running back.

Shazier, 2013 (through 11 games): 109 tackles (78 solo), 20.5 TFL, 6.5 sacks, 4 FF
Te'o, 2012 (through 13 games): 113 tackles (55 solo), 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 2 FF, 7 INT

Te'o finished 2nd in the Heisman voting last year. Clearly, somebody here at BP needs to catfish Shazier and then kill his imaginary girlfriend before the B1G CCG so he can get some deserved Heisman pub.

I assume you mean their DLineman, Aaron Donald.

If catfish got a trip to NY, he most definitely does.

I think Braxton is playing for an invite at this point, the media has too much of a hardon for McCarron even though Braxton has better stats and is also undefeated.

I think the Boston College RB should win it. Andre Williams

He has 2000+ rushing yards, has a chance to break Barry Sanders Yards per game record. And it wasn't just against scrubs, he rushed for 150 against FSU and lost in a close game.

I get why Hyde's not in the discussion, despite his talent and production. If you miss games for making bad decisions off the field, that's fair.

If you're injured and miss a big game, I'm ok with not being invited to NY.
If you're injured, against the soft part of the schedule, and your backup didn't struggle, and your team won, then, imo, that alone shouldn't exclude you.

I know he won't win, but to act like he shouldn't be able to because he was hurt is shitty

With the previous returns of Mariota and Manziel, I've been wondering why Bridgewater hasn't come back up? They lost 1 game... but unlike the aforementioned candidates, that loss doesn't appear to be his fault in any way shape or manner. It looks like he actually had a pretty good game.
I'd prefer to see him over a RB from a terrible BC in the no-defense ACC.
