Who will win the 2007 U.S. Open at Oakmont?

should be interesting to see how that green accepts 3 woods (hard enough to hit a green with a 3-wood let alone with them baked for a US Open). my guess is the rough behind the green will see a lot of action. IMO a 288 yd par three is unnecessary.

I prefer more difficulty, making players make smart decisions and playing "golf" rather than making it so the winning score is 20 under. make the courses more difficult if you ask me. Make players use less club and be more accurate.

Has anyone played Lincoln Hills in Upper Sandusky Ohio? Its the course I grew up playing. I believe Chris Perry played a round there and said the par 3 #2 was one of the most difficult par threes he ever played. And its only about 165 yrds.

I agree, there are better ways to increase a course's difficulty than adding 1000 yards. That takes too much of the field out before they start. Look at Marion. That course isn't very long but it gave the players in the US AM a few years back all they could handle.

I have read that the hole will play somewhat shorter, (LOL) and the players will be able to "run the ball" up onto the green. Yeah, instead of 288 yards it will play only lets say 250 yards....Unbelieveable....

Nothing against him, I'm sure he's a great guy, but I will be upset if Choi wins. He has been playing well enough as of late though. What about Kim? That guy is always in the hunt after the first few rounds lately.

As for the par 3 8th, Trevor Immelman aced it in one of the practice rounds, so it must not be that hard.

Maybe time to close down the vBet and turn this one into a general discussion thread about the open?

Rough start for Sergio...

The bet closes in 22 minutes. Then it's a discussion thread. :wink2:
