Lets' not get carried away here folks...
These guys weren't world leaders, they weren't visionaries... they were entertainers (lets assume that's part of what athletes are) that used the platform of their celebrity to advance ideas... there "greatness" outside music and the ring is that they made people think about issues that they might not have otherwise... but this isn't Mohandas Ghandi vs. Nelson Mandela here.
I give them big credit for being great at one thing, and having the balls to stand up for something they believe in... but... in the end... they are a fighter and a musician, and had they not been those things first, we wouldn't know their names.
