Who Took Mom Out To Dinner?

And where did you take her? I saw my mother Friday but spent the weekend with my father. It was interesting but that's another thread. As I arrived back into town I noticed that every restaurant that I passed had a wait to get in, even crappy ones like Red Lobster and Olive Garden. I stopped in just to peek in at Grimaldi's but it was packed to the gills. So where'd you go and how long did you wait?

I cheated and used a store-bought pie crust, but the innards were just four cups of rhubarb, 1 1/4 cups sugar, 2 TBSP corn starch and 1/8th tsp salt. Super easy and pretty good. Not mom's quality, but she had been making them for decades, and this was my first. I'll be doing them until I run out of rhubarb.

Good luck with that. Hope you don't have more than one plant.

We've got enough rhubarb in our freezer to last us a couple years.

What?!? No sugar??

Hmm...

I cleaned up my mom's garden for mother's day. I need to get one or two new lilies in there.

Also, cooked a nice steak dinner for the wife and helped our daughter decorate a picture frame for her.

Pretty good day, though I miss my mom.
