Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
In an attempt to get some discussion going on the board I'm starting a poll. Let me make 2 points, 1) sometimes you like to see a coach leave because of his ineffectiveness (however, I don't think that applies to any of these 11 guys) and 2) I'm all for a coach advancing in his chosen career and leaving for a promotion at another school. So using your own criteria, i.e. best at player development, best recruiter, best at developing game plans, hardest to replace, and/or whatever, etc. Which Assistant Would You Most Hate To Lose? I know it is a "tough call" so you get 2 votes.

I'm going with Greg Schiano & Larry Johnson. In addition, I'm not sure there is another assistant football coach in the country that is better than these 2 in doing what they do.

With that being said I'll guess that Greg Schiano will again be considered for a head coaching job after the 2018 season and nobody on the staff deserves a shot at a head coaching position more than Larry Johnson. He's definitely proven his coaching ability and "paid his dues"; and at 66 years old the clock is ticking).

Didn't realize I could add a second before I voted. Would have Mickey as a #2. None of the offensive guys have proved that they are truly elite coaches. Alford being the closest. Larry Johnson is the best D line coach in the country and the best D line recruiter in the country. Get him the co-dc job next year and hopefully he'll retire here.

Was going to go with Schiano or Johnson, but I decided on Day.

He's not at their level yet, but i think he'll stay longer and is needed to keep Meyer on schedule when it comes to progressing the offense into a unit that can consistently compete against the best defenses in tge country.

LJ and Mic.

I do think that the culture Mic has created makes it a lot easier on many of the other assistants. He’s absolutely at the top of his game.

LJ because... LJ.

This. I think Mic is the one guy who is utterly irreplaceable. I assume that Schiano, and most likely Wilson will be gone soon for head coaching gigs and considered Day over Johnson based on age and potential longevity, but ultimately went with proven excellence over potential.
