Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
In an attempt to get some discussion going on the board I'm starting a poll. Let me make 2 points, 1) sometimes you like to see a coach leave because of his ineffectiveness (however, I don't think that applies to any of these 11 guys) and 2) I'm all for a coach advancing in his chosen career and leaving for a promotion at another school. So using your own criteria, i.e. best at player development, best recruiter, best at developing game plans, hardest to replace, and/or whatever, etc. Which Assistant Would You Most Hate To Lose? I know it is a "tough call" so you get 2 votes.
Kevin Wilson Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach
Ryan Day Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach
Tony Alford Assistant Head Coach for Offense/Running Backs
Greg Studrawa Offensive Line Coach
Zach Smith Wide Receivers Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Greg Schiano Associate Head Coach/
Defensive Coordinator/Safeties
Larry Johnson Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach
Alex Grinch Co-Defensive Coordinator
Bill Davis Linebackers Coach
Taver Johnson Cornerbacks Coach / Special Teams Coordinator
Mickey Marotti Asst. AD for FB Sports Performance
Based on the adage......
I'm going with Greg Schiano & Larry Johnson. In addition, I'm not sure there is another assistant football coach in the country that is better than these 2 in doing what they do.
With that being said I'll guess that Greg Schiano will again be considered for a head coaching job after the 2018 season and nobody on the staff deserves a shot at a head coaching position more than Larry Johnson. He's definitely proven his coaching ability and "paid his dues"; and at 66 years old the clock is ticking).
