Which 2 Players Would You Start a NFL Franchise With?

Cornerback6

Optimism Lover
One offensive player & one defensive player:

I think the majority of here would say Peyton Manning for the offensive player, but we're not all QB-first types.

Mine would be:
L. Tomlinson on O = Instant ground threat...even with an average line, also, plenty of years left in him.
&
C. Bailey on D = Can't put a price on an instant shutdown corner who is not too old, but old enough to provide veteran leadership.

Who are yours and why?

If you're starting a team you're looking at a good 3 to 4 to be playoff ready which eliminates some of the obvious.

A great QB is a must so I'd say Carson Palmer on offense. On D it's Lofa Tatupu because of age and what he's done so far.

Tom Brady and Brian Uhlacher.

I loathe Brady, but Manning was already mentioned, and the NFL is a business.

Jason Taylor is getting old. Uhlacher covers a lot of ground in the middle of the field.

If age was no issue I'd say Walter Jones on offense and Shawne Merriman on defense. Ah, hell with it, I think Jones is about 33, but this guy simply plays his position as well if not better than any other guy in the NFL plays his and should be a Hall Of Famer. Merriman has a shot at being recognized as one of the game's all time greats. I'll stick with these two.

I want to say LaDainian on offense, but frankly I think he only has 2-3 really good years left in him. So on offense I'd take Vince Young.

Defense I'd take Julius Peppers by a hair over Champ Bailey.
