Where does this win rank?

Much has been said about early season rankings, especially before the start of conference play. The magnitude of this victory could either be elevated or diminished based on Texas's performance the rest of the season. If UT dominates the B12 and goes to a BCS game, a victory last night alone could propel us to play in the title game, regardless of what happens against Iowa, MSU, Michigan. If Texas struggles, this would still be a significant victory, but probably won't be among the top games ever played, regular season or post season, at OSU.

Hi Buckeyes,

This is my first post here (I heard about Buckeye Planet from my favorite site, Hornfans.com).

From our perspective, I can tell you that this was one of the most important home games in our history. I know that it was THE biggest regular season game I have ever seen.

Congratulations on the win. Your team played VERY well and capitalized on all our mistakes. We have a lot of work to do to be back at that caliber again.

I hope that all the visiting Buckeye fans had a good time in Austin and enjoyed our tailgates, fine live music and food, and hospitality. It's too bad that we don't have premier match-ups like this very often anymore.

Maybe we'll see you for a rematch in Glendale on Jan. 8, but it's not likely. If y'all take care of business, you'll be there. A lot of chips are going to have to fall in our favor, but it's possible. If so, we look forward to partying with y'all again!

Welcome aboard and a great first post. I haven't heard anything as far as Buckeye fans being mistreated or abused and that is huge considering how loud and boisterous our fanbase can be. If anything had happened, I would have assumed they deserved it for something they started.

As for a possible rematch, its not out of the question. If the Longhorns handle their business and march through what looks like a very beatable Big XII schedule and the Bucks continue to do what we did last night, it could happen.

Someone needs to knock Notre Dame off their high horse and slow down USC though.

Welcome to the Planet

Feel free to hit the "Soundoff" thread and tell us about yourself.

Where does this win rank?

Pretty simple....

figure out everytime we have beaten number #1 or #2..... (Point is... the best team in the nation who isn't us at the time)

Then...

Eliminate the neutral sites and the home games...

Then count only the regular season and non-michigan games...

And there you go...

Point is...

This was a historic game...

Period.

And... even better that we won.....

Better than beating Miami in '02... probably not...

Point is... I'll leave it to out resident historions find a bigger non November/January win... I can't recall any... so...

Great first post, God bless and good luck the rest of the way. As far as the win goes, it doesn't compare with beating SC in 69 or Miami in 02 for a national title. It was a win against a major power such as the win in Norman or the 2 against ND.

Bottom line were hyped as a national power and we win, great stuff for our national recriuting.

Regular season, in my lifetime as a Buckeye fan, most impressive?{/quote}

Don't forget 1968 vs. Purdue. Tatum squashes Leroy Keyes throughtout the 13-0 revenge game victory.

I didn't. I just didn't get to see it. I was out of town... like 14,000 miles out of town... courtesy of Uncle Sam. I only listed games I personally saw.

beating one of the best defenses [minus 1/2 of the starting secondary] in the country while doing so... :oh::io:

Is this the Boo Bird of happiness? Where you from, Philly? The Grinch Who Stole Christmas your favorite book? Desolation Row your favorite song?

I'd load you up with some rubies if I knew how.

Good call that was a heck of a game.

Yes and no. It was a heck of a game, but part of that had to do with NCST being a huge underdog to defending National Champions in their house.

I didn't list it because it was the sterling play of an underdog wolfpack and QB Phillip Rivers that made the game exciting. Hardly something to brag about for Buckeye fans IMO.
