Where do you buy your work shoes? (WARNING-Mind-numbing thread alert!!)

My last couple of pairs of dress shoes were bought at Younker's. I stick with Florsheims for dress shoes as I have found them to be the most comfortable for me, wear the best and have a decent price. My only complaint is I seem to buy the ones with leather soles and when they get wet it sucks.

The most comfortable shoes I have ever owned are some Teva sandals. Now, if I could just convince my boss to let me wear them at work I would be set.

I used to wear Sambas for years, but have noticed I need more cushioning in my tennis shoes anymore. It sucks getting old.

Never heard of them, a dress shoe?

They're known for their hiking footwear, but the have regular oxfords as well. Very comfortable walking shoes. You can find them at any outdoor store -- Galyans, Dicks, REI, EMS, etc.

Here are the ones that Manfred has:

He teaches in them sometimes, but his everyday work shoes are either Rockports or Dexters.

steel toes

im scared of steel toed, working in college i was on a site when a guy got his foot crushed by a hoe and the steel gave in, cut off his foot and i had to drive him in a pick up with him yelling and going crazy, while i had his foot in a bag as i drove like the cops were chasing me to the hospital.

That sucks about that dude's foot. Were they able to save it? I've seen more than my fair share of work place injuries too. Steel toes and tarsel protection are alright, as long as the weight you're dropping on them is 300 lbs. or less. If it's much over that, it'll likely still break your foot, and a lot of times, do more damage than they prevent. Ah well.....safety, safety, safety. Gotta love OSHA.....

I get my Florsheim's at DSW, and I will occasionally will pick up a pair of another brand there. I found a really nice pair of brown Coach casual shoes for $80 instead of $150-ish. Comfortable as hell and stylish to boot.

I never have any luck at DSW. I have the most common women's size (7.5), so the shoes I like are never available in my size. I've been getting most of my shoes at REI or L.L. Bean.
as i mentioned earlier its not such a great place for "common" sizes but as for guys if you are bigger than a 12 you can almost always find atleast one nice pair.
