When and How will Carr be Traded-In?

It would not surprise me the least if scUM uses the old;
"resignation before the Big Rivalry Game", to pump up the troops.

The Buckeyes will be very focused on remembering Earle Bruce's last victory over TSUN this year. Beating us will be the only way to redeem Carr's season, especially after it becomes clear that they are the second best Big Ten team in Michigan.

The '07 season includes the Bowl game (if applicable), even if by some miracle their Bowl game is played in '08.

And one other thing...

This is about when he coaches his last game, not about when the announcement will be made. Most seem to understand this, just trying to make it explicitly clear.

If I understand this correctly, he's going to coach in the bowl game. Therefore, isn't he resiging after the '07 season?

Yeah, I agree with Zurp. And isn't the '07 "Season" over after the final regular season game?

The initial post said that the bowl game counts as part of the season. But it also says when he coaches his last game - not when he makes the announcement. It's my understanding that he intends to coach in the bowl game.

My thought process was the same as far as "season" goes, but that's "regular" season...we still have the "post" season to go. Then again, by its very definition, "post season" means "after the season", so technically Carr did retire after the season...

Well that settles it, cause what Mili says, goes.

I was on the same page. In my mind, the season is over. Bowl games are post-season. But it paid out to those who bet on the "retire before the season is over" option, so I went back to the first thread:

Pretty black-and-white, if you ask me. He announced his retirement before the end of the '07 season, under DBB's guidelines.

Here's my point:

The announcement was made before the season was over. But he will coach the bowl game. Seems to me that he's retiring after the season is over.

Ummm... yeah

I totally screwed the pooch on this one...

It's probably a good thing that my moderator priviledges only go so far. I can't fix it, but a Senior Mod or admin. can.

BB73 was the first to let me know that I'd screwed this up; and he said that he'd see to it that everyone that made the actual correct bet would be paid. So there will, in effect, be a double payout on this one.

So all I really did was create work for BB73. It's a good thing he's making that big Sr. Moderator salary or I'd feel really bad about this.

Yes, we'll do a double-payout on this one. I'll be sending individual vCash donations to all of those who bet on 'Resigns after 2007 season'.

I would have posted it yesterday, but I got a bad case of food poisoning - if I had used a video camera, I could have made a video too disgusting for youtube's bandwidth to handle. :wink2:

OK, the vBets for 'Resigns after 2007 season' have been paid out via individual donations.

Except for $39 from 2 posters that I can't identify. If you made a small bet on that, let me know.

Perhaps I should start another vbet on how many people will claim to have placed money (less than $39) on that bet. :tongue2:
