This was my response in the 2007 NFL draft thread to a rumor that Oakland had offered Quinn a "low ball" figure as the #1 pick.exhawg;823053; said:If CJ is on the board at 3 there is no reason that he shouldn't be the pick. Whether or not the Browns take him is the question. It would be dumb for them not to force Tampa to trade up.
I think Atlanta is the team chomping at the bit to move up for CJ. They have plenty of picks to use as leverage. A part of me still really wants AD, but the recent rumors about him reinjuring his collarbone worries me. All we need is a built in injury. CJ is a special talent, but I don't see him helping the Browns as much as trading down to gather additional picks to fill the other holes. Next years draft will be loaded with RB's too, or we could snag Pittman in round two (provided we gain another 2nd rounder in a trade), which would satisfy me. We could use our first rounder to help one of the lines, go CB early in round two, and hopefully grab Pitt as well. Then use the rest of the draft to fill other needs or go BPA.I wouldn't hold out hope on that. Him accepting a "low-ball" offer for a team I can't imagine anybody wanting to play for seems about as likely as Charlie Weis passing on dessert. In a perfect world, the Raiders grab Russell and the Lions snatch Quinn (I actually think Quinn could excel in Martz's system). That leaves the Browns to trade down with Atlanta who seem to really want CJ and stockpile additional draft picks.
