What Will Be the Buckeyes' Record in 2006?

What Will Be the Buckeyes' Record in 2006?

In 2004, LordJeffBuck took off the scarlet-colored glasses and predicted an 8-4 season (with an upset win over Michigan); as you might remember, the Bucks finished 8-4, and were victorious (again) over Michigan.

In 2005, LordJeffBuck predicted a 10-2 "near miss" season, with close losses to Texas and Penn State; of course, LJB hit the nail on the head again, as the season played out just as he had predicted.....

Not that I don't believe you; but could you provide the "links" where you made these predictions?

I voted 13-0 and with another national championship in the Fiesta Bowl. It will be great to win the "big one" in their new stadium:

13-0 National champions. I think we will have some scary victories, like 43-36 kind of games, until the defense really gets solid. But I don't see us losing.

A previous poster said, Speed Kills. I don't like that - it sounds like all the Miami fans (and the national sports media) before the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Miami was supposed to be so fast! but they got their butts kicked.

No, I don't think we're wussies like Miami was, however, let's not get all wrapped up in speed winning games.

Amonth or two ago, we were picking our "breakout" players. I still think it's Roy Hall on offense, and he is nowhere near our fastest receiver, but he is big and tough and faiirly quick, too. On D, it might be Abdallah. The whole D-line is gonna be nasty mean and ready for war.

One last reason why it's 13 and oh: JT has become that much better a coach. Go back and watch early 2004 games, or even last year's Penn State game. Compare it to the last two games last year - and listen to Musberger gushing like a schoolgirl over what a great field general Tressel has become.

Go Bucks!

As much as I wanted to go 13-0, I just couldn't do it. Two games worry me this year, Texas and Iowa. I think we pull out a win down in Austin mainly with the revenge factor and the Horns loss of their leader and catalyst VY. Iowa under the lights in Kinnick really worries me. This year they have the revenge factor on their side, and I'm not 100% confident we can get both these games. Those Big Ten road night games are a fuckin' bear, hopefully we can change our recent luck...we'll see. 12-1.

im going to say 13-0 and win NC. this is ONLY if we beat Texas in Austin. if this happens, which it should considering their new QB, then we won't lose another game. we have michigan at home, michiganstate is not consistent, iowa doesn't match our talent, etc.

Something to keep in mind when OSU plays Iowa:

Yeah, I know that historical record has little to do with next year's performance. Just suggesting that Iowa has been "worriesome" before - with mixed results at best.

I do agree with you that Iowa should be one of OSU's tougher opponants though.

the difference is that those media pundits spouting such were unaware of the speed that osu did have. Mike Bianchi's "slow plodding buckeyes" article was the pinnacle of this. Overall OSU is the fastest team in the big 10 imo. Does that necessarily translate into victories? No.

Bottom line, I selected 11-2. Loss at Texas and another loss coming from one of Iowa or MSU. Regardless, 7-1 will win the big 10 this year, and OSU will be BCS bound once again.

I know that you trust me implicitly, but....

The overall record predictions are in the polls, the results of which are public; the previous poll threads are linked in the initial post.

For individual games:

2005 OhioState - Texas Preview

2005 Penn State - Ohio State Preview

See the "Predictions" at the end of each Preview.

I was on sabbatical in November of 2004, so you'll just have to take my word on the Michigan prediction.

Beat Texas, and this team will be on a fast train to Glendale.

Course, some of the posters (hopefully a minority) at hornfans.com pretty much think they already won the game, and that actually playing us is only a formality (heck, from the sound of it, we should just forfeit...the heat, their crystal ball, and us losing 9 starters on defense make us vastly inferior).

Funny how a post over there on Chris Wells turns into a piss fight over how badly we're going to lose in Austin.

Call it a premonition, or just a bad feeling, but I think The Game is going to give Buckeye fans a lot of heart attacks. They might be plagued with injuries now, but I don't ever, EVER want to underestimate Michigan.

Poster here in Austin. Sure, there are jerks here who think we'll crush everyone--I'm seen some similar posts by OSU fans. The vast majority of Texas fans are wary. I don't sense any feeling that the OSU game will be anything but a catfight from beginning to end.

Maybe, but we won't be facing a defense that's even in the same galaxy as our 2002 defense (except in practice).
