I think it's safe to say that almost all of us would answer tOSU number one, but I'm talking other than the college program you affiliate yourself with.
1) Cleveland Indians- I've been diehard for these chumps since the age of 7 in 1984. I remember my dad taking me to that cavernous old stadium that was about 1/10th full on Saturday afternoons in the mid-late eighties. I remember the disappointment that was the 1987 season (I still can rattle off the usual batting order of that team). I rememeber the excitement sourrounding the franchise when the gateway project was announced and they began accumulating a ton of young talent. I remember being [censored]ed when they called the 1994 season right when the Tribe was finally good. I remember the tremendous ride that was the 1995 season and even though they came up short, there was no disappointment. 1997...now THAT was disappointment. I remember more frustration than disappointment from 1998-2000. I remember the comeback from a 14 run defecit against the Mariners in 2001. I remember the bitter end to the 2005 season, but a feeling that big things were on the horizon. Up 3-1 against the Sawks in '07 only to choke it away again. This is the professional franchise that I love...slightly more than the Browns.
2. Cleveland Browns- Story reads much like above only with a little more heartbreak. Red right 88, The drive, The fumble. Art [censored]ing Modell. Butch [censored]ing Davis. The Indians are higher only because the Browns franchise has [censored]ed me off so many more times with their bumbling incompitence. If anyboody needs to know why, read Terry Pluto's excellent "False Start: How The New Browns Were Set Up To Fail".
3. Cleveland Cavaliers- A distant third now...not because of them, but because the nba has [censored]ed me off into a state of apathy...especially after this past summer and how awful the product they put out has become. A bunch of spoiled aau-bred egomaniacal punks have ruined a great game.
4. Pittsburgh Pirates- The hate I have for the Stillers doesn't translate to the Bucs. My entire family is from Pittsburgh, and I spent many a summer weekend afternoon in old Three Rivers Stadium with my pops watching the Pirates when they were good...and they were really good for about three years. Bonds-Bonilla-Van Slyke was maybe the best trio of outfielders in my memory. [censored] the Atlanta Braves. I feel bad for their fans as that is a franchise that will just never get it right again IMO.
