We all grew up on the car, surf and beach songs but my favorite era was 65-68. Brian went rouge and ditched the formula and made some really great albums. He was an absentee Beach Boy from 69-74 but then returned to make two very brilliant albeit commercially unsuccessful album. By then his mental illness and the drugs that they were giving him caught up to him and he was never the same. My favorite tracks are unreleased tracks and bootlegs that never were released. He was a musical savant but his unforgivable sin was not selling out.
