I remember when Culture Club came out, I had to listen to their records in private, it wasn't hip to like them. As a singer Boy George was GOAT tier.

For me The Car, The :Police and Van Halen were the three groups that transitioned 70's rock into the 80's. Their debut albums came out in '78 and they heavily influenced the early 80's sound. One could argue that The Cure was another one
